If the show keeps true to form, the song will be just one of those blind alleys that never amounted to anything ho ho, see what i did there?, like Shouma's myterious friend, or Mario as a character. But hey, if i don't bet risky, i'll never get to brag about calling stuff (and that's enough of a return for me, since i'm pathetic like that).

Speaking of Mario, this episode sure did an uncharacteristically swift job of explaining the other penguin-hat. So that's also Momoka. Maybe if the two hats are brought together, then Momoka will be able to manifest herself in some form, much like how Sanetoshi can haunt the world with the Black Bunnies around? I wonder if the remaining Natsumes will board the train too, despite what Masako said in an earlier episode, so that the hats can be reunited.

A bit haphazard and rushed in terms of construction (plus the regular stuff that doesn't make sense much, the Ringo endangering explosion being almost ep 18 wat worthy), I think, and now I'm slightly worried the finale can resolve everything in satisfactory manner. But then again

- holy fuck Sanetoshi

He was at the top of his game again in this episode. Best antagonist of the year, easily. Shibireru da yo!

- I can't believe they freaking used "Aquarion tweest"

those who have seen the series know what I mean.

- oh hell yes

Image

even if Ikuni is going to sink my ship in final episode and smear my face to prove just what kind of fag I am this scene was nice

Though everything with Sanetoshi were the top moments

Smart money in 2ch is on some announcement of a movie coming to you later when the series ends.

Hm, I like this series for what it is, but it bothers me is, that there are too many severe incidents, that could have killed a character but was ultimately without consequences. In this episode we had 2 or 3... Nor the red haired girl, nor Momoka's sister, nor the the blue haired guy had to endure any consequences.

Also, this series could easily consist of 26 episodes. There's still too much to be resolved. They should have wasted a little less Episodes on Momoka's sister and in return should have started to bring the plot together a little earlier.

I´ve already discussed the possibility of that with a few fellows of mine way back before the second cour.
While that would be awesome, I just can´t see it happen.
A one hour-ish long OVA, maybe?

I've seen the first 12 episodes of Mawaru Penguindrum and it's fantastic. I love it--the art, the characters, everything! I've been purposefully staying away from anything that could spoil it (not reading this thread till I've caught up), that's how much I like it. With most shows, I don't even care about having them spoiled, but with this one learning's the good part.

That would make sense. Knowing Ikuhara, however, means that we won't know what the fuck happened in it.

Unfortunately the full version of gray wednesday disappoints. It totally lacks the power that the TV-Version had.

I felt much the same about Rock Over Japan; it's just not the same without our lovely empress. They might grow on me, though. Such things often do.

I say 0.

The super low quality raw HK release is out.

Should I watch it today on my phone(lol) or tomorrow with proper subs?

Depends, are you okay with Ikuhara ruining your Christmas in low quality? I'm waiting.

So i watched the raw of Episode 24 after some Google Translate aided hunting. I understood almost nothing of the dialogue but....
SPOILER: Show
man, if there ever was an anticlimax, this was it, and i seriously think it would be impossible for even a perfect understanding of what was being said to change that impression. Yet i can't help but feel there really was a philosophy behind it. Ikuhara threw away almost all of the flash and windowdressing to deliver a simple message in a direct as possible fashion. Kinda like the last episodes of NGE.

Only not as effective. Penguindrum as a whole just wasn't developed enough to make the melodrama it was trying to pull off work.

Final verdict: trainwreck, but one of the more interesting ones.

I'd love to know what they were saying badly. Interesting finale, though.

Just saw the raw.

I'm not really sure what happened, but it has definitely earned its place among the more infamous mindscrews of anime.

I liked it. I might not be able to watch the sub for like a week, but I hope I get to before then...

Kenji would be proud of you, Ikuhara

In the end Penguindrum was a story about the only subject all truly great stories are about and played very, very true to my predictions made at least a cour ago. This is not a flaw. Despite all the mess made while building the house I'm impressed and I admit something got stuck in my eye during the last minutes.

For all its flaws and questionable choices throughout the series up to the very finale this ride has been worth a dozens of your averaga anime titles and I'm glad Ikuni is back in style.

Merry Christmas to you too.

Just saw the last episode.

Well, that was an awesome ending.

I actually expected worse when SaltyJoe spoke of trainwrecks.
