People in Eva and Angel suits fighting in a styrofoam city?!
o_0 BRILLIANT!!
0_o And Rei82, why not add sock puppets to that list?
BRILLIANT!!
(Interpretive dance ... the image is too hilarious ... or monologue for that matter [I don't know that anyone could stand Shinji doing a monologue of Eva ... there would be mass suicides])

Evangelion would not make a good translation to a 2 hour film. gainax is doing this just for money, if they do pull it off.
if they translate to live action, they need to have 3 films like LOTR, and follow fairly closely to the original series.
Of course, no amerian studio would commit to 3 films.

Welcome to capitalism! We proudly run almost every nation on the earth, and if there isn't a franchise in your local town then by god there will be within the next decade.

Of course. Except for Lord of the Rings. Or Indianna Jones. Or Aliens. Or Star Wars. Or Star Trek. Or Superman. Or James Bond. Or (ad nauseum).

Or Matrix, or Harry Potter, or Terminator, or Batman, or Hannibal Lechter, or several titles that should never have gotten one sequel let alone two or three or more.

Of all the movies mentioned in the previous 2 posts, only in the cases of Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter did a studio initially commit to making multiple movies at once. In every other case, said franchise movies were all green-lit one movie at a time.
And then there's the case of STAR WARS were the movies (all except for the original film, which was also a one movie deal, BTW) are not studio backed but rather independantly financed by Lucas himself and 20th Century Fox only has distrobution rights, not creative input or control on how many movies are made.
So in other words, a multi-picture deal is very rare and highly unlikely especially for a franchise like Evangelion which doesn't have nearly any name brand recognition in the US.

Thats absolutly true, even in the case of Indiana Jones, which was created by Steven Spielburg, and George Lucas had to be financed one at a time by Lucas.
