Due to the impact of 3I, tons of dust is kicked up into the Earth's atmosphere. The Earth then becomes superheated due to the greenhouse effect. Eventually, mankind is forced to live underground away from the heat. However, they soon discover that the Evangelions are alive! In fact, the Evangelions are using humans as a source of power so that they can continue to live. Mankind is gathered into one city underground called Ziokyo where Shinji and Asuka attempt to free their brethren who are being used as batteries while pulged into the "Evatrix". However, in order to fight the Evangelions, Shinji and Asuka must learn to use the force and battle their archnemesis, Darth Evader. Will Asuka and Shinji be able to stop Evader and free their captive race?
Joeshie, if I had the money, I would pay you to make this movie, bribe Anno into playing whoever takes the place of Morpheus, and blackmail Spike Spencer into playing Evader. <evil>

Maybe your movie could be a sequel to this, Joeshie. You and Dr. Nick should become collaborators in the B-movie industry!

It seems like no-one else remembers the relevant line from ep#22...

Yep, GNR definitely puts the impact into Third Impact.
@Lastie
Darn tootin!

That's frikkin' crazy. And yet... interesting. ...But still crazy.
An image that has so much to do with the topic, yet has so little to do with it, as well.

A: The pilots can be argued to be special cases due to their unique circumstances.
How in the world is Asuka a special case? She was absorbed by GNR just as the rest of humanity so one would assume that she would return the same way as humanity. The only person who had a unique circumstance was Shinji.

Take a look at the website Mr. Tines gave. Then scroll down to the next article. There is an article that is suggesting that when the people "reimagine" themselves, they come back as newborn babies.

Well, even in the first:
Steve wrote:They would remain in the red band in the sky bled from Rei's neck as disembodied mentalities released from having previously been absorbed into Instrumentality.
That's just blood, I b'leive... The souls are the particles that popped out of the Moon; GNR's body was simply the "funnel".
The pilots would be special cases in their privileged state, and effectively forced to re-embody, in what I hoped would be some perfected, post-human, post-mortal form (consistent with the need to be re-imagining themselves into bodies).
Like Joeshie said, the only "priviledged" one is Shinji. And I certainly don't think we are seeing any more than Shinji Take 3 and Asuka Take 2, as opposed to revamped models... unless Asuka is in a body so perfect he could wring her neck for hours and she would suffer no ill effect aside from slight discomfort.
And I have no idea what the stuff on "reincarnation" comes from... Souls are not going to be reincarnated into pre-formed bodies, they are going to recreate the one they lived in prior to Tangification. The only people who will come back as babies are those who WERE babies.

You missed my disclaimer, indicating that this was a little mischieveous:

EDIT:
Reichu wrote:... unless Asuka is in a body so perfect he could wring her neck for hours and she would suffer no ill effect aside from slight discomfort.
The candidate perfected bodies I had in mind would fit that criterion perfectly, either theological (as per the damned souls in Niven & Pournelle's Inferno), or technological (as per the emortal post-humans in Robert Reed's Marrow).
However, note the past tense on that "hoped"

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned EvaComics so far this thread - it has what I would consider a "middle way" take on what comes next.
