Nice! I really like the cut they chose for the cover, it looks like you got a splendid edition.

Whoa, nice menu! Puts 1.11's to shame.

Looks good! ^_^ You guys are lucky to get 2.22 within the same year as Japan...

I'm assuming there's some translation or legal issues with neither non-Japanese editions of 1.11 and 2.22 having the Script as one of the extras... (Then again, the episode scripts for NGE weren't included on Platinum and I doubt the Death(true)2 and EoE scripts would be included on a U.S. (Renewal) release too...)

Damn slick, simple and decent, especially with the menu system. :)

Although there maybe some BD drives out there, the PS3 is still the go-to when it comes to a decent BD player.

Much as 2.22 sucks, it'd be interesting to see some HQ scans of those character sheets, if only as a clue as to what the creators were thinking. I'm also wondering how they managed to write a whole paragraph about the barely-seen Hikari.

He shuddered a bit, remembering the somewhat creepy level of detail Kaji had gone into, while rubbing a watermelon in a disturbingly sexual way.

 I hate the boxart! I hate it, I hate it, I hate the boxart! They could have done a better job with it!
NGE was a damned good anime
EoE was an anime masterpiece
And Rebuild is nothing short of epic

It looks like a steel book case but I assume it's not. The Bluray of the second GitS movie was a steel case.

Yeah, but what did I buy the Japanese DVDs for? :P

Well, honestly - I totally prefer the Japanese menu. Much more calm :)

2.22 doesnt suck :P

And I´m sorry, I dont have a scanner. But the booklet is almost an exact translation of the booklet that came with the Japanese DVD of 2.22, just a few more pages due to text length.

And theres not much about Hikari :D Just that she´s a good student and also cares very much about others. Plus her Japanese and german voice actress. Not that much about the other characters as well. The text about Mari mentions that shes from England and pilots Eva 05 and 02.

Yeah, the 1.01 cover was prettier imho. But I love the Japanese boxes more. 1.11 also has a nice cover, but was just released on Blu-ray here in germany - so I didn´t get it.

Erm, reading is hard, hmm? :P It´s a steelbook.

Does the German release have a German dub?

It does. And I pretty much like it. Maris voice is great :D

They also pronouce the name better than in the german dub of NGE. Finally they say Asga instead of ASUHKAA :P

This boggles my mind. How could they possibly license, translate, dub, and distribute in less than 5 months? I could see if they hadn't dubbed it... but they did. That's crazy!

As far as i know they licensed it already last year. The DVD/BD was also already supposed to be released 3 months ago, but there were some issues with the rental rights.

Evangelion 1.01 was also released in October 2008 here in germany.

Funimation is just way to slow :P

Not really. KLOCKWORX required Funimation to run 1.0 in theaters before video release. I think they're doing the same again with 2.0. I imagine in the case of Germany, KLOCKWORX was fairly certain a theatrical release was pointless. Anime as a business in Germany is not as big as in North America.

But I am still seriously impressed how quickly you guys got a release, and with a dub to boot. Usually a dub doubles the time to release.

Hmm. That´s possible. Yeah, the anime market is pretty small here but we had a pretty limited release of 2.22 in cinemas. It was at least shown on some festivals here a few months ago.

Bah, festivals don't really count. There are always one of more of those at any point and place. A theatrical engagement on the other hand is something totally different.

looks great, especially that booklet, definitely has more information in it then that little one I got with my 1.11... damn the Germans get way better stuff a lot quicker than we do in the states :raincloud: wish Funi would release more info.

The big question is can they understand wtf Kaji is saying on their version? of course there is also much jealousy at the nice steelbook releases they have (I like that type of case for some dvd's & games, sue me)
