I could help translating the Japanese in that sequence if people here are interested - but I don't get most of her Engrish. Her accent sounds cute, and she sounds more fluent than all the Japanese girls and women I know IRL - I just don't get most of what she's saying!

What I think she is saying

"Yeah I think I landed off target."
"It looks like I'm in a school or some sort"
"What? Well you told me to enter into Japan covertly"
"How do you people work this out"(Not really certain with this one tho)
"Just be there for my extraction later ok thanks."

Thanks, that helps me making sense of it all. I'd guessed the first line and the "It looks like I'm in a school of some sort bit" too. As for the last one, I thought she was saying, instruction instead of extraction, but I'm really not sure.

Kaji has some Engrish dialog in the US/Russia scene. It's absolutely horrendous. It sounds like Yamadera's reading a direct katakana transcription of his lines and had no coaching on where to pause between words or on what syllables to emphasize.

Unlike Sakamoto's cute Engrish, it was completely unintelligible and made the ESL teacher in me die a little inside.

I have this image of Yui-sama chopping up and cooking Angel parts in a giant cauldron. More likely Rei struck up a friendship with Hikari, who probably still cooks like she did in the old series.

Um...she started interacting with Shinji and learning, from him, how to be human.

Except nowhere do we see that happen. He asks her to smile and suddenly afterwards she turns more normal suddenly and starts organizing parties and cooking? It's a massive leap in character, hence fan fiction comparisons.

Huh? Judgin' from what people have said about 0.2, Rei starts out the same as in 0.1, only she and Shinji on good terms. She changes when Shinji interacts with her throughout 0.2.

I think your not giving Rei enough credit. Certainly, Rei is smart enough to see that if she wants Shinji to be happy she could have a party since Shinji and everyone seemed to have a good time at the picnic in 0.2. There are things you have to infer upon.

I tried my hand at translating the Japanese part - unfortunately my electronic dictionary is MIA... :(
