The Nerv Logos
I just recently watched Rebuild 1.0, and I noticed the new Nerv logo. But I was curious that the older one appeared numerous times. At first I thought it was just an accident because the older logo appeared on small things in the background.
But then the older logo appeared on one of the Eva launch tubes, quite large. As well as other places.
I guess I was just wondering if there was any special significance to this. Because if they went through the trouble of designing a whole new logo, why not use it to replace the older one.
Maybe you guys caught the significance of this?

Eh? I thought that was just supposed to be what NERV was initially an acronym for. Is there an image anywhere of what that primordial logo looked like?shito wrote:what would be cool is if they'd use the old one that was never used, "NEO EATH OF RETARN VERERASION TEAM".

From an aesthetic stand-point, I have to say I much prefer the older, original NERV logo.
I do like the newer version when the background apple is holographic, it makes much more sense than the "flat" version.
This "flat" version is ugly as all hell. It might have been okay had hey not included that weird apple crap. Because I do like the fonts on both of these. It seems much more inline with the futuristic feeling of NERV.

There's also a full figleaf graphic that I've sighted on a building (retracting during the "preparation for Shamshel" part) and train ("Shinji brooding" segment). Figure that one out.
Old thread on the new Nerv logo, for whatever it's worth.

Mapped to distorted envelope.

Huh? I'm not referring to this particular one, if that's what you mean (in fact, I can't really recognize it here). But there are at least two versions of the old NERV logo: One with a V that's straight up like the other letters, with the effect of it being hidden by the leaf to a large extend, and one with the V a bit skewed to the left to make it more visible (it goes parallel to the leaf).Reichu wrote:JimmyWolk wrote:Actually, it's not entirely the old one. As said, I'm not sure if the latter version came with Rebuild in particular, as I only noticed it recently myself when searching for the logo.
ed: Old old, New old (not the best for comparison, since it's not a straight on view, but I think one can make out the difference)

I don't get it either. After checking the wiki, the thing that I found most interesting was they changed the new logo back to the old one several times in between 1.01 and 1.11.
They actually went out of their way to alter the film to incorporate the old logo more. Why!?

"Now, from Nature we obtain abundant information about ourselves, and precious little about others. About the woman you clasp in your arms, can you say with certainty that she does not feign pleasure? About the woman you mistreat, are you quite sure that from abuse she does not derive some obscure and lascivious satisfaction? Let us confine ourselves to simple evidence: through thoughtfulness, gentleness, concern for the feelings of others we saddle our own pleasure with restrictions, and make this sacrifice to obtain a doubtful result." -The Divine Marquis

The old logo is kinda more simple but bold which I love while the new logo is good but I don't like it very much. Maybe because it may take some time getting used to but...
I love Seele's new logo however.

(Your sig is kinda long. Maybe you could shorten it?)
"Mountain. Heavy are the mountains, something that changes through the ages. Sky. Blue sky. Something visible, something invisible. Sun. Something unique. Water. Something agreeable. Commander Ikari. Flowers. Many of them alike, many of them useless. Sky. Red, red sky. Red color. Red color that I hate. Water flow. Blood. The smell of blood. A woman that does not bleed. Made from the red soil are humans. Made by Man and Woman are humans. Town. Something that humans made. Eva. Something that humans made. Humans are what? Something that God made. Humans are things which humans made. The things I possess are my life and mind. The vessel of a mind. Entry plug, the throne of a soul.
