Entirely likely.

Lossless means lossless - the output is not different in any way from the input. If there is a difference, then the track was different before it reached the disk (i.e. at the time of mixing).

I just sent a message to Zima Entertainment (distributor of Rebuild of Evangelion in this country) and they said that the DVD/BR with (arguably) the latin spanish dub is coming in March

I can't compare to the Japanese release, however I had to turn my TV up way higher than I ever do. So....yes.

So, forgive me if this has already been addressed, but what does "multi-format" actually mean? I chose that option when I ordered my copy from Amazon and now that I have it, from what I can tell, I just got the Blu-Ray version. Iirc there was some talk at some point that Funi was going to release this as Blu-Ray only, but when I saw the multi-format option, I assumed it would be a DVD and Blu-Ray disc, like my copy of Akira. So... is there a release that includes both? Is there even a DVD-only version? Honestly, I'd much prefer that over the Blu-Ray, because it would look better height-wise next to my copies of the other two Rebuild films (aesthetics are important), and because I could actually play it on my computer.

I have the same issue with my German DVD release.
I think that might be, because the sound of movie is mixed not with stereo sound in mind, but with 5.1 equipment. While the most of the talking normally comes out of the center speakers, even with a 5.1 mix, 3.33 actually uses all of those boxes depending on where the characters are, most of the music is intended to emerge from speakers from the back. It sounds great with the right equipment, but if you only have a stereo system lots of information just gets lost. I guess Computer use their computing to adjust for the given speakers, while many TV sets just don't have a Computer to do that. And it seems the Playstation 4 is neither enabled to that.

She runs up the wing of a crashing airship in the middle of an Impact to do battle with a super Eva, snipes it in the core by shooting through the Wunder's ribs, and then beats the shit out of it in melee combat. Talk about badass!

My PS3 played it louder than my regular blu ray player. Need to try the computer but don't have a blu ray drive in it, only dvd lol

I tried it on my BD player and my PS3 and both needed turned up to higher than normal volumes.

Both devices are Sony though, so I'm sure if it's a brand problem or not.

It's quite simple - different devices use different rules to downmix 5.1 to stereo. In addition, usually the LFE channel is omitted, and sometimes compression is applied as well.

Oh dear, this is something i'm worried about now since I pre-ordered the multi-format collectors edition from Amazon. I'm from the UK so won't get it until the end of the month though. The image on the page of what I ordered shows a box saying DVD+Bluray and multi-format usually means that, so you should have gotten that. And hopefully that's what i'll get.

Anyway, I'm gonna mess around with the sound setting on the PS4 when I get a chance. Might try the Phillips brand Blu-ray player as well. See if I can't get it so I'm not pumping the sound up to "67%" on the TV.

I've only seen that image online, never in any actual stores. Also, Stan reported the website stating "Two Discs" when he only received a single disc. I wonder what's happening with this release.

Also, I'm realizing that English dub producers seem to have a terrible time with Evangelion titles. ADV also had several revisions, and Funimation released more special feature than they were allowed to with Eva 1.11. This title is a curse among the English speakers.
