I wouldn't set my expectations too high, for it leads to the risk of disappointment

This maybe a nail in the coffin for the combo pack, rightstuf updated the product pages and no sign of one

Anno's movie for the year 2016 will be Godzilla. Shin eva will be released sometime after, we're thinking about a year or so, sometime in 2017.

Funi had most likely already produced all of the packaging and extra content way back for the Feb 2013 release, and honestly it would be both financially unwise and aesthetically unpleasing to not release what they had promised already.

Here's hoping someone posts that translated booklet. It's probably the only thing I'm going to care about out of Funi's release, and I'm not going to justify paying out the nose for the entire package when all I want is the one thing.

"Paying out the nose" is only $25. I think I'll get it. Again, the subs on the disc will either be worth it for the convenience, or worth it to see the variances in translation.

And of course, purchasing it directly shows there's interest in Eva in the U.S. If we ever want to see the NGE Blu-Rays with a domestic release every little bit helps.

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but there's almost nothing in there which needs translation. Most of it is "just" concept art and annotations of how they animated the piano scene.

I own the Japanese booklet-- I know what's in it. I still want translations.

(Offtopic, I love your icon so very much. It makes me snicker every time I see it.)

I prefer to get a Blu-Ray with my DVDs so that once I'm able to watch Blu-Rays, I won't have to buy a second copy of anything.

(Thank you! I didn't make it, though, just in case you thought I did. I found it.. somewhere. I can't remember where.)

Assuming that the script is already done and ready for production, Anno might be directing Godzilla while approving Evangelion production via the internet or whatever.

Maybe... I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, though.

Did Funimation ever gave an official statement as to what part of the dub Anno disliked? (I assume all of it)

Was this delay worsened due to bureaucratic nonsense between Funi and Khara?

No, and Khara/Anno never said they didn't like what they originally had. They simply wanted to extend a hand in helping provide the most clear, concise script. Whether it was FUNimation bringing out a less than optimal translation (Which I noticed from their theatrical dub release was not much different from any other translations [but that's funsub's for you, thinking they're somehow superior for providing the same quality]) or Khara's very very already confusing script, is what can be debated on. Personally I'll shoot for the latter considering that everyone had a hard time initially understanding this movie.
Please just call me Ian, "TheFrisky" is more of a title.

Eva Monkey said that the changes Khara had requested were all completed for some time already, and the ball was in Funi's court as to when they were actually going to release those changes.

Spike Spencer (English voice for Shinji Ikari) said that the changes were recorded shortly after Khara's request was made, and, from personal experience working with other audio/visual mixes for original video projects, placing those changes back into the mix takes a solid afternoon of technical work if you want to be picky about it. (A whole two days if you want to be slow and lazy about it.) So the changes were made rather quickly.

It seems as though the delay was more of Funimation trying to properly promote other releases that had already been scheduled for release (that Dragonball Z movie and what-not), and, as a result, had to place Eva Q's re-scheduled release further down the pipe-line than anyone would have really liked.

^They did say in the ANN podcast that there have been a lot of delays lately because of the switch to the simulcasting service and the adjustment to the new format. Q's not the only release that's been delayed for a while and it's entirely possible it was just an issue of bad timing.
Someday I hope that we'll be reunited if that is what's destined to be. Perhaps we'll discover that elusive bible. And then we will finally be free!
