Part of the article

''The first 2015 issue of Bungeishunjū's Weekly Bunshun magazine on Thursday featured an article on the return of singer Hikaru Utada. It quoted a record company source as saying that confidential talks are underway regarding her return to the music industry. The source added that it has been decided that she will sing the theme song for the final new Evangelion film "slated to open between fall and winter of next year." The source explained that Utada has one more album left on her contract with Universal Music Japan, so the company wants the Evangelion song to be the focus of the final album.''

It's very important to take note that there has not been any official announcement from Khara as to when Shin is going to be released. Evangelion.co.jp? Nothing. Eva-info.jp? Nothing. Official Twitter pages? Nothing.

I'll believe it when I see Khara say it.

Why are you forcing me to give ANN a click? Copy the whole bloody text which they copied/translated from here anyways:

http://neweva.blog103.fc2.com/blog-entry-3498.html

which is where us others at evageeks usually get news from.

Ooh! We're at that “I'll believe it when I see it from Khara" stage of sharing news. Something exciting must be brewing!

No one is forcing you to click the ANN link. Dima just provided his source for the news and you can choose whether you want to check it through his link or not. Is that so shameful? I would say it is even more shameful to copy the news and spread it without giving any clicks to the original site. No matter what you think of the site, the translation work alone should earn them those clicks they would miss if some jackass went around copypasting their work.

It's not official, the info it's based on magazine's source.

Winter 2015 covers the period from December 2015 till February 2016.

Maybe we will get the release date from the official site with the New Year, just like Q.

This is the only quote that should have been posted in the thread from the always trustworthy anonymous quote person.

However, the source said the theme song tie-in is entirely dependent on director Hideaki Anno opening the film next year as planned.

The source clearly knows jack shit about when Shin is actually happening and keeps guessing like the rest of the media sources.

Wonder if Hikaru Utada will do a acoustic version of Sakura Nagashi?

Yes, that makes sense, since everyone here speaks Japanese.

Let's all just take a :chillpill:, okay? There's nothing for anybody to get worked up about as long as sources are cited/no credit-stealing.

Anyway, there's plenty of browser extensions out there to help with Japanese, for sure. And oddly enough, Bing Translator's more spot-on than Google Translate these days (though you still shouldn't use 'em for accuracy) with Japanese...I don't understand the why, myself.

TM has the right of it in terms of when release dates are happening (we don't know until Studio khara tells us) so all we can do is guess wildly for now. Or just wait and see.

I think I speak on behalf of most who are curiously wondering what your beef with ANN is. It's just a website; why flip out when someone posts a link to it containing relevant news?
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

ANN doesn't have a good reputation, I believe-- but I honestly wonder why myself, since I've never actually gotten a concrete answer (or if I have, I've long since forgotten.)

"Historical reasons", I believe (old prejudices based on a few long-ago incidents, probably).

I would actually be very surprised if the film makes the big screen in fall 2015. I think it wont, but there is always hope.

I think the ANN news section is decent, not the greatest, but satisfactory I suppose. It's their forums that ruined the site for me, more specifically the moderators. A bunch of bias hypocritical fanboys that abuse their banning power when it comes to topics involving subjectivity. Nonetheless, I occasionally visit the site for news and simply avoid the boards at all costs.

That would be sad : 10 years would be too much for a tetralogy by a study that has nothing to do except Evangelion, whithout budget problems. EOE took only one year from 1996 to 97, and nowadays they have less excuses that two decades ago.

And don't come with "Anno is a genius, he can take his time". Ghibli are geniuses too and the don't need so much time.

Princess Kaguya and The Wind Rises have been in production for almost 5 years.

So... is there any real alternative to ANN anyways? (f.i. a news site who doesn't cite ANN as source all the time)

When did this become a discussion about ethics in anime journalism?
