???

Does this mean they're going to change evangelion into simplistic anime about giant robots?

Im sure gainax has something up their sleeve and if they dont, it'll be shame to have all of this hype JUST for the serial robot mecha story. They better twist it in some kinda way. EoE was probly one of the best things that has happened to me(anime wise) and it'll be hard as hell to top it. the only way i can think of it doing so is having final closure on the series in a fashion that hasnt been done b4.

I have a feeling that it will be Evangelion watered down.

this board will probly be active (everyday) until and after the movie comes out, but thats something we all already know right?

Lets hope not, and even if it does, we can always stick with the old one? can't we?

According to an automatic web translator, they are going to use CGI to show the huge blackout in ep. 6, and apparently also for the destruction of the Angel. In order to make it "more spectacular".

By the way, Higuchi "Makoto" (???) really is Shinji Higuchi.

Also, could this artwork and this one, from the 1st Eva Chronicle, be previews of what they're going to do with Rebuild ?

The second one is cool.

Oopsie. Thanks for correcting that.

Hey, maybe in the movies we'll figure out who the "Fourth Bridge Bunny" is...you know, the one that is seen in the first few episodes...

Huh? I don't remember about that. Refresh my memory please.

(gracias! WES512)

No hay problema.

And I thought that the movie released in 1997 was the REAL End of Evangelion as the title suggested.

For a sorely overused fangeek observation -- ever heard of the video game series "Final Fantasy"?

Yes, I see your point now

If they put bridge bunnies I bet they'll use the 3 new ones from the Ikari Rising game.

Edit: lol, I accidentaly typed Bridge as Bridget.

im back! and damn excited about this whole new eva thing.

AHEM* back to the topic-

i didnt bother reading all 21 pages of this thread but from what i've read (p1,2 and 20,21) it seems like no one has a clear definition or understanding of what this "Evangelion Rebuild" is
(if u do have it just ignore me).

after seeing this thread i did some research into the original Newtype magazine article and some Japanese blog sites- here's what i found:

Translations NOT literal/direct (don't nitpick)

Image

"Evangelion New Theatrical Edition" The production of four movies- the first, second, third and a finale, has been confirmed. The first will be released in the summer of '07.

(selected information only)
"The timeframe of the story is the same as the TV series', but the content is different. It is neither a remake nor a reconstruction but a new creation."

“Even if you have not seen the TV series you could enjoy this. The content will be simple but it will not be something that will be understood easily.”

“Using a different approach from the “new translation” approach, there will also be many new settings.”

Here’s an interesting one:
TVシリーズを見返した庵野が「エヴァって面白い」といってくれて泣きそうになった。
Upon looking back at the TV series, Anno says “Evangelion is interesting” and became teary eyed (direct translation: became seemingly crying)

(EDIT) Also, I must add that this release has been dubbed "An anti-thesis towards the current anime-industry" in the article itself, so im looking forward to something wholly unexpected.

personally i doubt that this would come out to be a side story. it seems more like an alternate universe. i just dont understand why Anno is so emotional about the TV series.

anyways thats all i got for now... havent been threading for a month and its damn nice to be back.

BTW Syracuse NY is cold and a 19 credit semester with a job sucks.

neither of those two have it. What I was hoping was that there was a version that had been fan translated into english, like GOS, but I'm guessing GOS is the only eva game that has been translated, fan or otherwise, isn't it?

wait u searched "Ikari Rising"? that was a typo on my part- as far as i know (and im to date with eva games) there is no such game by that name- i was trying to type "Ikari raising"- a sort of a "parenting game"
http://us.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.aspx/code-c/section-games/pid-1004060474/

out of all the official eva games made, the only one i know has been translated is the original GOS, simply because it was made for the PC and someone actually bothered to go through the coding and translate the thing (applauds) i highly doubt anymore fantranslations of games would be released though (in the near future at least)

here's the list of Gainax endorsed eva games (excluding sega saturn games)

GOS
GOS special version (basically remade for PS2)
GOS2
Evangelions 2
Evangelions 2 for PSP
"Raising Ikari"
"Raising Rei"
"Raising Rei and Asuka package" by Broccoli (same company that made GOS2... the game is rare now)
"Evangelion Detective" a comic take on the eva world... yet to be released but under heavy fire by fellow forum dwellers

im sure theres more but its 3am and im tired.
