I pray it isn't anything like the TV ending. The EoE ending was much better and I always digged the final Asuka and Shinji moments. EoE still got a bit silly for me though during the random 'scenes of symbolism' during instrumentality. I hope not to see any sand castle scenes or clips from real life Japan.

Okay, here goes. Just a few off the top of my head:

Gendo, SEELE, or Yui survive. In any capacity whatsoever. They made their choices and messed around with the future of the human race quite enough for one lifetime, thank you very much. Time for them to exit, stage left; ASAP; for good; permanently. Misato's and Shinji's generations won't have any legitimate chance to finally get their respective shit together and move on if any of the old men/women are still around, getting in the way.

Rei sacrificed/merged with Lilith, Adam or any other Seed that just happens to be lying around.

Kaji killed by anybody. He's way too skilled of a triple agent to let some mere NERV/SEELE hack take him down.

Mari Illustrious Makinami revealing any further double-secret probationary, previously hidden, back-door Eva "modes". Once is more than enough. Please stop showing off.

Also: Kaji is such a great character - and his relationship with Misato is so compelling - that I certainly wouldn't complain if he were to survive. However, I wouldn't want Anno and co. sparing him just to please the fans, either. I wouldn't want them to be doing anything just to please the fans, really. Even though they kind of already are.

And I will continue, to my dying breath, to defend the EoE hospital scene. It was brilliant. Even if I was too naive to get it the first time I saw it.
