What do you think of the kaiju genre? What is your favorite kaiju movie and/or series? Also what is your favorite kaiju?
I like the kaiju genre and have since I was very little before I knew that the word kaiju existed. My favorite series is the Godzilla series and is what got me hooked on the genre. My favorite kaiju is Biollante.

. As a big Toho fan as myself then it would be hard to choose but I always enjoy Mothra (Both normal and Leo), Gigan and Mechagodzilla.

Although, I really only like the aesthetics of kaiju. I watched one Godzilla movie a long time ago, and never got back into it. I love the designs and the toys, though.

Yeah, exactly. I just didn't want to sound ignorant, but that's the gist of it: there seems to be very little kaiju for your buck, which I can understand to an extent, but I don't have to like it.
But I do plan to see the original Gojira film subtitled one of these days, because I've heard good things about it.
(Though I'd prefer to watch any kaiju film subtitled since live-action dubbing looks very wrong, though not enough to get off my lazy butt and find the DVDs)

I remember seeing Gojira when i was five, and I was expecting Godzilla to just come out smashing and blowing shit up. And then I saw it was in black and white, and words didn't quite match up with the mouths they were coming out of.
Being only 5, I decided it sucked.
