Had a pretty weird one last night that was EVA related.

I was playing one of those quirky games like Goat Simulator or Katamari, the kind that look early PS2 era graphics wise and have some kind of gameplay quirk. In this one you played as a young Rei clone wondering around what I guess would be a GEHRIN lab. The concept was that Yui had brought you up to the lab to preform some sort of surgery and gets distracted after logging into her terminal leaving you to wonder around for a few minutes. The gameplay quirk being that Rei's hands were loosely bound behind her back so you had to change her pose to interact with different things. From what I remember Yui would always notice you were gone after a few minutes (about 7 I think, dream time is weird) and then you'd get a seires of flash forwards depending on what you did.

It was really weird, probably the most complex dream I've had in more than a year. Obvious timeline issues aside it got me thinking that a quirky EVA themed game is something that needs to exist.

So, I went to be at one, fell asleep at roughly three this morning, had to be up at four...

And I dreamed in cartoons. Like, Rocky and Bullwinkle style cartoons, with original characters and Vincent Price providing the voices.

Ah, dreams. I love them. So many of them are so amazingly creative. I at least feel like I've experienced entire masterpieces in my own brain, each specially designed to push my buttons.

Speaking of dreaming in cartoons with weird voices, once long ago I had this truly disturbing dream I'll never forget. It was, or was at least based on, the Charlie Brown cartoon -- which I'm not sure I've ever actually even seen outside of reference clips or commercials. This one part I remember was the crew walking through a swamp, where they meet a hairy ape-like man my dream-self recognized as a racist caricature, who told them in a creepy voice and manner about "the Hemsha", which were the plants that were eating them. The order of events is hazy, and scenes sometimes seemed to play simultaneously, because it was either before or after that that members of the party started getting just lifted off the ground and swallowed by cartoon plant things with the expected plant mouths. My dream-self was very disturbed by this because I thought I was watching a children's show, and here I was watching these party members just sort of disappear and realizing that I was watching their lives being ended, their stories being ended, just like that, with so little fanfare or clamor.

After I woke up I fucking loved it. One of my most memorable dreams. But I'd hate to actually watch something like that, even though I barely know anything about Charlie Brown. I think one reason I like it so much is because it was just a dream.

That is a sweet ass dream. I've had one starring Rei too, although the context was more complicated. What it actually was, was that I was going to school with SSD and part of the process for some reason involved us going to an in-school theater together where a game is on the screen and the students take turns passing around a controller to control the action, and one of the games was an old-school Grim Fandango-era and -style game starring Rei that started on a beach with a cave.

I woke up being disappointed that none of the games I saw in my dream actually exist.

As a quick note about my last post, I am probably the only person to have a dream with a shirtless Gendo in it that made complete sense in contex.

O.K., this tops any dream I've ever had for weirdness:

I dreamed that I'd been ordered onto an exercise program that required me to take donkey rides. For some reason the donkey academy was on the airport grounds. While waiting my turn, I saw that these were bucking bronco donkeys and people were being thrown, causing me to think, "Hey! This isn't what I signed up for!" Then even though I didn't have it before, I had a big bag of hay in my hand that I was going to use to barter for the donkey ride. When I was second in line the guy in front of me handed over some money, but it wasn't for a ride; he bought a donkey liver. It was a disgusting whole, untrimmed liver with a bunch of veins and bile ducts still attached. I started looking for the exit when suddenly I was indoors, in a produce and gourmet food store run by the same people. They were passing out free samples of goose liver pate, and I had a horrifying feeling. "I hope that isn't donkey liver!!" I woke up as they approached me with the tray.

I have no notion what could have triggered this dream.
Rejoice, glory is ours. Our young men have not died in vain. Their graves need no flowers. The tapes have recorded their names.
I am all there is.
Negative! Primative! Limited! I let you live.
But I gave you life.
What else could you do?
To do what was right.
I'm perfect, are you?

All I remember of my dream this morning is an old friend of mine (who I'm pretty sure in RL knows nothing about this sort of thing) was going to cosplay somewhere. I meanwhile was debating between cosplaying as Pen Pen and some other character because they were (in my dream-words) "short like me". Though, a Pen Pen cosplay sounds like a cute idea if done right?

Reason to stop watching Digimon & Evangelion before bed #1
All I remember is Asuka and Davis were fighting and Magnamon and Eva-02 were sitting at a table calmly talking and drinking tea. And for some reason me and Shinji were talking about monsters

Chiyo-chan in her penguin costume in Azumanga Daioh was quite possibly the cutest thing I had ever seen up to that point in my life. Pen Pen is not just any penguin, though, and the costume would have to be recognizable as him or at least his kind of penguin, so it might get tricky.

A while ago I had this dream about Evangelion. I remember it being awesome, but I don't remember too much. The details are a little blurry.

So, it starts with Asuka appearing before Shinji on a motorcycle wearing her red plug suit. She's carrying uzis and has a pissed off look. She grabs Shinji and he wraps his arms around her as they speed up a tower-like rocky structure and towards... something. Misato is inside a really fancy palace throne room, white pillars on either side of a red carpet leading towards the throne. The interior is variations of white with big windows that let in a dull blue light. Outside there was tall grass and the moon was freaking huge and the night was beautiful. On the throne someone was sitting. I don't remember what they looked like, but they were child-like in some way. Then something happens, like a battle that I only remember seeing white, metallic tentacles falling to the ground with dust covering the area. Misato breaks down into tears as the palace vanishes in blue-white sparkles of light, along with the thing that was sitting on the throne, leaving her alone in a pitch black place. I think it was her fucking baby. That's what I I was thinking as I was observing the dream. Misato had an Angel baby. And then that thing happened where you realize you're in a dream and you don't want to wake up but fuck you, your body makes you wake up. I've been disappointed by waking up from wonderful dreams far too many times. I REALLY wanted to see Asuka do some more badass stuff.

I know, right?! I've had some sweet video game or anime related dreams (or erotic ones, for that matter) from which I was quite disappointed to wake up.

Most of the time though I'm usually pretty glad to wake up, because I also have a lot of bad or at least disturbing dreams.

This one that I had just today was about Sazh, from FFXIII. As I've probably mentioned elsewhere, he was my favorite character in that game as far as his personality and relatability. In this dream, he's in a casino-slash-strip club -- nothing out of the ordinary considering his DLC in FFXIII-2, right? -- and as I watch him, I somehow know that he's looking for some woman he's into who works there. She's one of the strippers.

But when he finds her, the way he talks to her is just appalling. Horrifyingly misogynistic, and my dream-self was just like, "I used to like you, man, what happened?!" and dealing with that terrible, terrible feeling of having to accept that the person you thought you knew probably never was.

I was pretty glad to wake up from that dream and realize I didn't have to change my opinion of Sazh after all.

You want a dream that's shitty to wake up from? I had this one once.

It started out in a cafe or something. This wasn't a regular establishment, it was something in some kind of brutalist, ultramodernist scifi dystopia. Think Equilibrium meets Minority Report. That's when the chase starts. Faceless goons in suits and sunglasses. You know the drill.

I'm totally outclassed, so I run. The chase is a little cinematic, lots of pigeons flying everywhere and creative use of my environment to buy myself time to run. I trip some of the goons by flipping over a cast iron table, that kind of thing. I get a little more space by crossing a busy street, but they're still behind me.

I run into a building. They're all faceless, featureless office buildings. After a length chase down corridors and around atriums, I finally manage to lose them by doing the stairwell trick. If you've ever seen Back to the Future Part II you know what I mean- jumping onto the "up" stairwell as they're trying to follow me down.

On the next floor, the architecture gets weird. There's a huge reflecting pool on like the seventy-fifth floor for some reason, and a narrow walkway across it. I know if I fall off I'll fall through the water and die, but I can't go back- the goons will figure it out and head this way soon and I've cornered myself. The walkway is just below the water level, so it looks like I'm walking on water but it's also really slippery.

Finally I get to the other side and Robert DeNiro is waiting there. Except he's not Robert DeNiro. He's dressed in a really smart black suit with a red shirt and tie, kind of a monochrome look, really modern yet really old fashioned- a peal tie pin through the knot and all. Next to him is this table, and there's a cloth covering something on it.

That's when he tells me that he's Doctor Strange, and pulls off the cloth to reveal Mjolnir. I've been having this one once in a while ever since my senior year of college. It's not quite as regular as "Oh God I forgot I was taking this class and I have to take the final" or my characteristic snaggletooth getting loose followed by all my teeth cracking to pieces and falling out, but I still have it once in a while.

That was a sweet read.

Minor nitpick: I think the first sentence of the last paragraph should be its own paragraph. It adds punch to the ending and logically separates the part where you're no longer describing the dream.

Once I dreamed I was a Colonial Marine fighting Xenomorphs. Except for some reason it wasn't in space but inside my house. The ending was kind of weird- I ran out of ammo, and tried to kill a Xenomorph by choking it, which for some reason stopped it moving long enough for me to get out of the room and close the door. For some reason the fragile wooden door managed to stop it even though it kept banging on it. But then I woke up before I could find out whether it was going to break through or not.

Weird Pacific Rim dream.
I was solo piloting a Jaeger that look like a Crimson and Black Gypsy Danger through a coastal Asian city and a weird kaiju that looked like Onibaba started smashing buildings. The Kaiju runs over and rips my Jaeger's head off and that got me to wake up.

"Hey, play this song for me", says an old woman.

I tell her I can´t play the guitar, she tells me to leave. I move trough a town that looks like a combination of different towns I know(Estombar, Silves, Portimão). I am told by a crowd of people* doing some kind of festival that somebody stole a car* and is going to sell it in a slave auction. Going all the way there I meet a slave owner with whom I get friendly with* and offer to work as a business partner and assist him when he runs for president in he nearest elections. He tell me to go on.

After some time I leave his house and head to my car. It is raining. I start driving towards unknown lands. I starts to get darker. I lose control and fall of a cliff.

THE END

*1- That crowd of people had a oddly large number of people from eastern Europe

*2- The same person that stole the car later tried to steal my car but failed and was killed by a meteor.

*3- It is important to note that I spoke with the slave owner and is friends in English, They counldn´t speak Portuguese, much to my amusement.

Visiting family for the weekend, and apparently crazy nostalgia dreams came along for the ride. Drempt that I found an entire youtube channel of people I was in various schools with airing all sorts of insane grievances against me. For whatever reason I had to get to my old babysitter's house to turn the youtube off.

Also my dad had somehow turned our old suburban house into a tobacco plantation where giant blunts grew straight out of the ground. So yeah.
