And the charges were promptly dismissed via ACD by the female judge hearing the case, who "expressed her skepticism about the charge because of the time of the arrests: "12:11AM, I can’t believe there were many people on the subway.”

With regard to the fact that they were arrested in the first place, it probably didn't help that the dudes were Latino-- but whether we want to call it manspreading or otherwise, the NY MTA does have it in the code that it ain't legal to take up more than one spot. Looks like a case of overzealous law enforcement.

There are a ton of misdemeanors in place in New York City, and they tend to be used a lot in situations where they probably shouldn't. It's like with Eric Gardner (the arrest began because he was being accused of selling loose cigarettes, which has been used as a charge to arrest a LOT of African-American men).

Considering the ethnicity of these guys (Latino), this is probably the same thing. Considering, also, the New York's police agencies are really jacked up at the moment, it's even less surprising.

This is something that New York City's been dealing with for a while (specifically since 9/11). A lot has gone into giving the NYPD and other agencies as much power to enforce codes and laws as possible, and they've been very overzealous in enforcing thing.

Nothing surprising here for anyone who has closely followed the utter lunacy about safe spaces, fake rape epidemics, Yes means Yes campaigning that has about as nuanced understanding of human sexual relations as guy with severe autism has about reading social cues and whatever else that has been turning (especially) university campuses into dens of paranoia scaring faculties shitless and turning students, especially anyone who has ace card to play in the Identity Poker (being LBGTQ, Muslim or feminist are killer cards - better yet if you can combine them!) into gutless, irresponsible primadonnas of special flakery and entitlement.

For a long time by now only thing liberals are generally speaking liberal about are their sex lives and social engineering the society to serve their upper income bracket urban elite sexcapades, the overall impact on society and especially on its weakest members be damned. They're not liberal about what ideas you have, what you say, how you spend your own money - in fact they prefer to spend it for you. Still, at least their pro stance on getting 'sum action meant they could plausibly claim to be "liberal" about at least something.

So in light of this the fact new "puritanism" is predominantly left driven is nothing short of ironic. Still not the slightest bit interesting given how leftie politics towards "noble causes" pretty much always have opposite effects relative to intentions.

As for manspreading in particular being criminal that's what you get when you give power to feminist cadres. But then again my pickle brain probably just isn't high end enough to comprehend the serious vileness of "man-spreading".
