Yeah. You read right. This is for everything that doesn't have anything to do with Eva.

I have been, actually! It's by far the most painless thing to consume.

Said blood buildup is not particularly painful. I'm just worried as to how serious it might be -- I'd hate to have a broken bone or something and not realize it, but I've never broken a bone before so I wouldn't know what that's like but I'm told I'd be in a lot more pain if it was.

[REDACTED] went off last night about what happened in Paris. [REDACTED] and I got in a pretty heated argument over it. [REDACTED] went into a tirade about how 'all Muslims are evil and should be treated with suspicion' and how 'this never would've happened if they'd kept those (censored) Muslims away from everyone else'. I tried talking him down by saying how not every Muslim is like the people who shot those cartoonists, and it only put gas on the metaphorical fire.

It was not a good way to end the evening.

As long as you can move it, it's not broken.

If you can, it might not hurt to go see a doctor-- even if you haven't broken anything, it's always good to get an injury like that looked at. Unless it costs a lot of money for you to do so, that is-- in which case just keep doing what you've been doing, since you at least seem to be in a good mood.

That's unfortunate. I wish I had some advice, but I really don't. Sometimes the only thing to do when confronted with that situation is to just... not discuss it, I guess. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I wonder how he would feel about the fact that one of the police officers killed while guarding the Charlie Hebdo offices was an Algerian Muslim.

The "all Muslims are evil" argument is just the typical hysteria that thrives after an incident like this. It's always a bit dangerous, but cooler heads usually prevail. The fact that France is just letting a man who spent six months training with al-Qaeda in Yemen walk around with no supervision is going to be pretty hard to explain however. Especially since both him and his brother are on "No-Fly" lists and have been on police radar since 2011.

it's probably less hard to explain then you think: it would require a security force at least 5 times besides the one that already exists within Paris. simply put, its logistical e impossible to track every single individual that's been through the French prison system has a history of violent crime in their past. especially considering that France has Europe's largest Muslim population, and focusing such a large amount of resources on watching that population would create a whole other set of concerns.

I would be more curious and interested in seeing where and how they obtained their weapons and equipment. it's not easy to get those items in France.

Let's not let recent-terrorist-events-related discussion spill over into this topic too.

It's a total pain in the bum. If prices for school ever start falling, I hope textbook prices are one of the first things to go down.

My secret is to use the online textbooks when available. For example, my Physics class has an online textbook with the MasteringPhysics homework. The book+homework access is about half the price of the book alone. Ask around, see if you can buy a friend's textbook at a discount, or just give the school the finger and use an older edition of the textbook and collaborate with your classmates on what the homework problems are.

I may just be lucky that all three of my Calculus classes used the same book and both my Physics class have, as well. But even then, I didn't buy the latter book in hardcopy (a coworker gave me her old copy, for this term).

You can cheat those carpetbaggers out of the money in your pockets, it just takes a little lateral thinking.

I'm screwed because I forgot to email a project to myself so I could work on it over the weekend and I don't remember if it's due Monday or Wednesday. At least I have my job shadow, which if I remember right is like half the grade for my Career planing class, lined up.

Work on it as if it's due Monday. Then, if it isn't, you have two days to work on it that you didn't think you have before. Worst case scenario-- it actually is due Monday, and you get it done in time anyway.

Y'all remember when I said there's a hole in my tooth?

Yeah my grandpa still wouldn't make me an appointment to the dentist (before you say anything, I don't have money so I couldn't go and pay for it [we don't have dental insurance], and I don't have a car or a driving license so yeah...) despite me telling him literally every day and that it'd just get worse the more I waited.

And now...a whole quarter my molar is just gone and at least now he seems that he'll make an appointment. :irked:

I've got strep! :zer_sweatdrop: I hadn't been getting better enough in the past couple days that we were starting to think I should go see a doctor, and I nearly went this morning but was really sleepy so I figured I'd do so after some sleep, but I woke up around noon with such horrible throat pain that I said fuck-it and we headed right over. The doctor took one look at my throat and made the diagnosis in seconds -- and as he walked out of the room said such is extremely rare.

What's ironic is that strep is the last thing I expected because I've had sore throats in the past, including really bad ones, and they always do a test for strep when I go to see the doctor for them and it's never strep. I've had quite a number of sore throats so for me strep became over time the "It's never lupus" of my life. But this one time I decided not to even bother to go to the doctor (until it got so bad I had to), it was!

Joining the sick people club. Soar throat, coughing, mild headache, sputum, runny/stuffy nose, fatigue and, for some reason, my back is kind of sore. Maybe my sleeping position was off?

Also went to the dreaded dentist about a week ago and got my hind molar filled. I hate having devices that sound like power tools in my mouth. Yesterday I went again and got a thorough cleaning. That wasn't so bad.

Becoming even less interested in this course, in all courses tbh, im not the academic type and the barrage of tests and written assignments my college is applying to every course recently.......honestly i just want a job so long as it isn't call center i would be fine with anything but dropping out of college might impact upon that, not to mention i still live with my mother and she would kill me if i dropped, i honestly don't know what to do, im not passing this course because im super behind on several assignments and i missed the deadline for one of them but i don't want to be thought of as a dumbass for dropping out of college even though after 2 years of trying and failing i realize this isn't for me.

And now i cant sleep because stress, fuck.

Once there were shelves on the wall behind my desk; they held computers, monitors, desktop scanners and various oddments...

Exactly that. Those shelves have been up there for seven years, with various amounts of computers and monitors stored on them. Today they gave up the effort of staying there.

Damage (so far): one fax machine, two iMacs, four monitors, five desktop scanners. The surviving computers and monitors I have yet to check out that they're working - a broken disk or two would be no surprise; I'll know tomorrow.

It was huge luck that I was not hurt, and also that my colleague whose chair ended up at the bottom of the heap was off sick for the morning...
