I took a few minutes to grab some poor-quality pictures of my posters. Yes, that is a hand-painted poster from North Korea. The Baltimore-related ones are actually silkscreened on plywood.

So I emailed a couple local framers to enquire about getting my Randy Ortiz OGF and Jacob Bannon 'Winter Hearts' prints framed but haven't heard anything back from them yet. I supplied all the details and was just asking for a quote or rough price estimate but it seems they don't want my business. People genuinely baffle me sometimes.



Anyway, I was maybe thinking instead sourcing my own frames and just getting the mats professionally cut. Has anyone else here done this before?

I framed the posters you see in my pictures. Ikea sells frames of various sizes with pre-cut matting, which has been sufficient for my posters so far. They're much cheaper than professional ones.

I highly recommend using a professional hanging/hinging tape, like this one:

It's water-soluble, so it can be removed without damaging the poster. It shouldn't yellow over time like Scotch tape, either. Should be available at your local art-supply store.

I framed the Homura poster that I got with my preorder of Rebellion. I also framed the bronzed Madokami card that came with the new edition original series production note. This is the first time I've framed anime stuff. Not quite sure where to put them.


I think the Homuhomu poster looks pretty nice. It probably isn't my favorite among the pre-order bonuses from the various stores, but it has its charm.
It's kind of hard to describe how the bronzed card looks. The color of the drawing isn't actually white, it's more like it's very finely etched into the card. You can only see it clearly if the light hits it at just the right angle, which is also why I took the picture in this odd position.
I've also got a Homura wall scroll on the way.

Hit up Big Wow ComicFest last weekend and despite all the money I spent, this piece by Mark Brooks was too tempting to pass up in person. Can you say Beast Mode?


This was Brooks' contribution to ECCC's 2013 Monsters and Dames artbook and is is the first non-anime print or any print for that matter that I've gotten. It's at 13" x 19" and I'm thinking of framing it if I don't get an oversize portfolio for storage. The chop at the bottom right is absent in my copy - Brooks signed in silver sharpie.
