Yeah. You read right. This is for everything that doesn't have anything to do with Eva.

indeed no one at my university has heard of Evangelion as well (that I know of)

Anyway also on the topic of university a guy really made me mad today. This guy claimed to be a expert on gundam so I ask the guy who was the first gundam protagonist and he said Herro Yui. REALLY REALLY you call yourself a expert and you don’t know that Amuro is the first gundam pilot. He then had the audacity to say that Wing was the first and best gundam series ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. The guy did not even know what the universal century was. And when I tried to correct him he told me I was wrong! WTF how stupid can a guy be to call himself a expert on something and be so wrong

Yeah, I'm sure they didn't like it it when you watched NGE in class because they happened to dislike the show and not because you were watching anime in a high school environment or anything

How do you know? I can pretty much guarantee you someone there has at least heard of NGE if not seen it and is even a fan of the show. Where I am (Israel in general, let alone amongst combat soldiers in the IDF) the chances someone here has seen any anime besides the very most popular (DBZ/pokemon tier) is close to zero, and yet I've met a few people (4-5) that actually watch anime, one of them being a huge NGE fan! You just need some luck and good intuition to scout out anime fans while keeping your own power level hidden. Truth is if someone is open about them watching anime chances are they aren't NGE fans

*sigh* I wish it that simple, but it's not easy with the general populace here. Here, anime IN GENERAL is frowned upon as a humungous waste of time. I've already tried to introduce Evangelion to some of my friends around here, and I've only received two general reactions:

1: They laugh at me regarding anything in animation as child-ish and tell me to grow up and watch more manly shows, like football.

Or..

2: They think that anything to do with Japanese Animation is nothing more than tentacle-porn and bizarre sexual depravity!

UUUUUGHH!!!!!!

I've basically given up trying to introduce anime to any of these rednecks.

back then everybody did something off task, plus it was a computer tech course so why not :heehee:
when I got into collage I was hoping it would change but I'm still the nerd/geek in my classes. :( My university doesn't even have an anime club.
To stay on topic I got a paper due in 10 hours and still have no idea what to do, stressed out. :(

Not sure what you were expecting since the anime market in the U.S. is miniscule.

I guess, but with a student population of 61,873 or so it's hard to believe that I'm the only one interested in forming a club.

I think considering the U.S. economy right now a small anime market is the best we can hope for.

My life is sorely lacking in cute girls lately. Should've gotten the waitress's number at that Thai restaurant the other night, or the rude-but-cute-and-maybe-just-needs-some-good-love-to-warm-her-up girl at the tea house my friends and I went to afterward. This is boring.

Also, I should get a good enough job to move back out of my parents' house and put on a good 20 pounds so I feel more comfortable with trying to start any type of "relationship" that could come my way. One night stands are simply out of question at this point.

Like in nearly every country, you mean? Ditto here. I'm sure you've come across the stereotypical reactions, e.g "that anime shit? You mean like pokemon?" or "you watch hentai?!" etc.

1: They laugh at me regarding anything in animation as child-ish and tell me to grow up and watch more manly shows, like football.

Or..

2: They think that anything to do with Japanese Animation is nothing more than tentacle-porn and bizarre sexual depravity!

Yeah.. you'll need to cherry pick someone that might open up to anime but maybe a more LOLmature anime series would appeal more than NGE.

My campus has an anime club, but it's in really poor condition. Luckily, Japan club is pretty much an anime club with other fun stuff as well, and it's a lot more organized. I've also come across other Eva fans, which is pretty awesome. I don't know. Maybe my life is better than yours.

Though, starting a club is not a bad idea. It doesn't hurt to try, and it might lead to something pretty neat.

You trying to make me envious? Cause if you are, that's okay. I can take it. :toothy:

Starting a club would be a good idea, except I don't have the time or resources to maintain or start one. Plus, I doubt anyone would want to join. They just simply aren't interested and aren't willing to change their minds.

lucky,
All the people in my Japanese culture club know nothing of anime, which I find weird.
I'm considering just starting it myself, but the time I could devote to doing so is limited.

To be fair, collage is a pretty nerdy hobby. Well, college is when you make your peace with the world

To stay on topic I got a paper due in 10 hours and still have no idea what to do, stressed out. :(

In those situations, I always used to go into the wifi-free back corners of the library with all of my source books and online-resource PDFs, stack them up, and write.

That first semester of university shocks a lot of people who suddenly have to learn to manage their time in much different ways. Even though I came from a high school with better academics than some small colleges, I still got hit a little at first. So you're not alone. Time to learn some life lessons.
