Never let the flame that is hope burn out, for despite the length of the night, the sunrise will always come

Kobun Shizuno - standouts for me are: Elfen Lied and Evangelion 1.0; also Knights of Sidonia and Detective Conan.
Hiroyuki Seshita - Knights of Sidonia; Ajin.

Gen Urobuchi
From what I see is he the "Story draft screenplay: Gen Urobuchi (Nitroplus)" according to the link.

So he's in charge of the screenplay? How exactly is he involved?
Also, I'm kinda worried about Polygon Pictures involvement.

Can we keep the thread about Shin Godzilla, bitte? I'll split the Urobuchi thing into Film and Video if people want to talk more about it.

none for the West Coast?
Re: Shin Gojira (a.k.a. Godzilla Resurgence)
According to cosmavoid
"this list is NOT complete, these are just the known screenings. Many more are to come:"
The list is probably from the Frank theaters deleted post. since it has some of their theaters.
Gendo'sPapa wrote:SPOILER: ShowI have never been to a FRANK'S THEATER location before but they seem to be a legitimate chain of theaters based on their website & they just posted this -
http://franktheatres.com/special-events/
A list of locations where Godzilla Resurgence will be playing on the following dates:
Tuesday October 11 - Thursday October 13 @7:30pm.
Saturday October 15th.
Tuesday October 18th @7:30pm.
*Dates & showtimes are subject to change.
I checked on Fandango & sure you enough you can buy tickets online.
My guess is Funimation will make their official announcement within the week. This also squares with my idea of Funimation not screening Godzilla until they finish those live action Ruroni Kenshin movies in early October.
So right now all signs point to a mid-to-late October US premiere.
Edit: They took the posting down.
Gendo'sPapa, does the list look familiar?

These things never come remotely close to my area. I won't be the least bit surprised if Shin Godzilla doesn't either. I kind of wish they used Tugg or something like that so you could request local screenings but I'm sure there are licensing and distribution deals that probably prevent that.
Someday I hope that we'll be reunited if that is what's destined to be. Perhaps we'll discover that elusive bible. And then we will finally be free!

Has some of the same theaters + a few new ones. Feels legit to me.
So in early October I'll make sure to free up my schedule to see Terrence Malick's Voyage of Time: An IMAX Experience & Hideaki Anno's Shin Godzilla within less than a week of each other. Noice!

Re: Shin Gojira (a.k.a. Godzilla Resurgence)
I want this movie right now. I want to see it in theaters. But I doubt a screening will come to North Carolina (which is funny because L Change The World had a screening here).
Re: Shin Gojira (a.k.a. Godzilla Resurgence)
Hopefully funimation makes this a wide release I mean if they can get a DBZ movie out there far and wide they should be able to do that with Godzilla
Re: Shin Gojira (a.k.a. Godzilla Resurgence)
^I have a feeling that DBZ appeals more to millennials than Godzilla ever has.

^ Speak for yourself. I never saw DBZ as a kid, only ever seen Season 1 of DBZ Kai when I was an adult, but Godzilla was life when I was growing up.

To celebrate the success of Shin Godzilla, Toho is hosting a special Eva/Godzilla/God Warrior festival in Shinjuku on Friday at 10pm! They'll be showing 1.0, 2.0, God Warrior Appears in Tokyo and Shin Godzilla.

^ Shin Godzilla being the 14-year time skip movie confirmed.
Re: Shin Gojira (a.k.a. Godzilla Resurgence)
Just saw this movie in the cinema today, it was really really good, though that's coming from someone who's never seen a Godzilla movie before. I don't know if anyone else has seen it and brought this up, but: (spoilers)
SPOILER: Show
Anno's square glyph alphabet from Nadia and Eva appears! It's used in a huge origami diagram detailing Godzilla's evolving genetic code.

How did Funi handle the DBZ movie release?
I don't know what to expect from a Funimation release.

Re: Shin Gojira (a.k.a. Godzilla Resurgence)
Funimation does not have the finances to rent theaters out for regular showings. I doubt there will be a theater anywhere in the US that will play Shin Godzilla for a full week with 4 or 5 regularly scheduled shows every day. That's an expensive proposition, especially when competing against regular studios who want that auditorium to play their $100 million + costing production.
What Funimation does is they schedule specific showtimes at specific dates. The movie will play at X amount of theaters 3 to 5 times only on 3 or 5 different days during the "Prime Set" - the time when movies do most business which is between 6 to 9pm - & that's it. You miss those few shows & you've missed the movie.
According to BoxOfficeMojo 'Dragonball Z: Frieza Resurrection' played at most at a total of 913 theaters nationwide over a two week period. Saturday August 9th was when it hit 913 theaters for one day only. The other days in that two week period saw it fluctuate from playing in 901 theaters all the way down to 66 theaters nationwide.

Same with Attack on Titan: Part I which played only a total of four days & reached a peak theatrical release of 290 theaters -
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=daily&id=attackontitanpart1.htm
- and Attack on Titan: Part 2 which had a longer run & maxed out at 230 theaters nationwide.

I would anticipate SHIN GODZILLA to have a release of about double that of Attack on Titan - roughly 500 theaters nationwide - & from what little news there has been we should all anticipate it in Mid-October.
