It kinda reminds me a little of the Dolem Designs from Rahxephon. But this is most likely a connection that makes only sense in my head.
This short was once again beautiful to look at, but bored me to tears. Mechs, again?! This time they didn't even pretend to give the short any agency whatsoever. I was so glad in was over, every second was a chore, especially due to the looping soundtrack. So this one wasn't for me, but here's hope the next one will be more to my liking again. :)

The combat ends with robots' destruction and expo pavillions are devastated, in contrast with the Expo tagline: "PROGRESS AND HARMONY FOR ROBOTS". This is obviously a tribute to the Osaka Expo '70 (the theme was Progress and Harmony for Mankind".)
This short movie could be a metaphor of the contrast between good old ideals (progress and harmony) and real wars in many places since from the post-WWII.

Oh, I saw that. Agency might have been the wrong word, since they definitely put some thought into it and there was a messenge. What I meant was that I had no reason to care, since while I can see that the action was beautifully choreographed and the designs were great, it wasn't enough to draw me in.
I'm the kind of guy who accepts robots as part of the story, than watching a show for the sake of seeing robots. I hope that makes sense.

Dohoho, that was great. Worth the wait. I'm glad they got Tatsuya Kushida and Takeshi Takakura involved too.
Also interesting to note Takeshi Honda helped with animation. Last time Okiura did animation for the expo was on Maeda/Honda #6 with the unwieldy title. Guess they wanted another chance to draw boobies?
