I mean, predictability is the central attraction and the narrative hook that we've all come to expect from the Evangelion franchise. How come Anno can't realize this? Twice? - FreakyFilmFan4ever

Why do people believe that something Rebuild (Final) related will come about by the end of this expo?
(Other than Anno's involvement) Is it that TBA short by Hiroyuki Okiura?
Also...
Will the site be shut down after the final short airs?
If so, how long will the site stay open?

I'm not in the right frame of mind to watch this tonight. I'll wait until tomorrow. (Gotta pace my Yuri and Evangelion viewings appropriately, especially if their going to be mashed together into one thing like this.)

Guess it had to happen. First short I outright hated. Hated the CG animation. Hated the characters. Hated the attempt to tell a moe story in the Evangelion universe. Hated all the girl's dead sex-doll like giant eyes. Hated the song. Hated their stupid video. Hated that Asuka didn't just walk on the scene during their dumb garbage K-On like music video & flat our slap these brats.

I did like when the annoying girls started dying though.

P.S. These girls are called "The Impacts"? In a world where Impacts are known as disastrous moments in history where cities were wiped away in an instant, countries disappeared beneath the rising red seas & millions of people horribly died naming a band "The Impacts" seems really dumb & offensive. It'd be like if a group called themselves "The Nine Elevens", "Holocaust Gas Chamber" or a band in Columbine went by the name "April 20, 1999!".

To quote my Sig. "Whew! I'm not tense anymore! Now I'm just miserable. . ."

This was insubstantial, I was expecting them all to be swallowed up in a fireball caused by Third Impact. What we got was a cryptic cut to black. Not even a breadcrumb of a hint about what happened at 3rd impact.

Also, while I liked the backgrounds. The CG animation for the girls danced around the uncanny valley, I think I would have liked it more if it had been traditionally animated. It couldve been amazing but the CGI clashing with the beautiful painted background make it look like a cut scene from a videogame.

I did like the girls and the story overall but it couldve been divorced entirely from the evangelion context and nothing would have been all that different.

Pretty dope names; I must admit.

All in all I liked K-Ongelion surprisingly. The CG didn't bother me at all, in fact I think this might have been the best CG character-animation I've seen in Anime as of yet. The story was well told and although those characters were stereotypes, I was immersed enough to care for them. Might be an unpopular opinion, but thumbs up from me!

I don't think they did. It looked like Izumi and Ayako moved away and poor Haruka got left behind. Haruka could have been killed in the fight with Zeruel, but I don't remember any shelters being hit except for the one Shinji was in. Maybe they'll make cameos in 3.0+1.0 as Wille staff.

I'll answer these for you.

1. Because of UYCTM, and the nonexistent info on the plot for Final. Not to mention it's almost been 3 years since 3.0 came out, so everyone believes Final should be sometime soon(Late 2016/Early 2017).

2. The other TBA shorts are likely not Eva related, but they could be, doubt it tho. If we do get something it would be a surprise 36th short.

3.Eventually the site will likely shut down. But it would be open for a few months after the Expo has ended. Think late January is when they will likely do it, considering what happened with Season 1.

I expect they'll remove the season two shorts when season three is complete and close the site a similar interval later (or more likely turn it into advertising for an upcoming BD release of the whole lot - got to make money off it somehow).

They could have easily made some other diaster instead of the Angels. It was Eva related for the sake of being Eva related. Again it shares some possible insight on other group of kids in Shinji's school, but yea it didn't have to be connect to Eva.

Neon Genesis Impacts wasn't as Impactful as I had expected it to be. (Pun intended.) I don't know if anyone noticed at the end credits (it was really dark), but the girl is in fetal position in an empty shelter a la Shinji style in Ha. This leads me to expect that she lived, though I thought she would have been there with her parents at least or something. I honestly expected this to be more integrated with the fight scene itself, rather than simply have the sound effects play in the background.

This is usually a complaint I hear about Rei and Asuka in 2.22. The only "moe" I've ever really watched was Squid Girl, so I guess I'm no one who can judge either way.

Some thoughts from my post on my site:

One of the things about Evangelion that I wish was visited upon more often is life outside of the Nerv bubble. We get a few peaks into the world outside of Nerv at various points in the show, but the show never really delves into the reality of the situation, the way in which Nerv, the Angels, and the Evangelions affect the lives of outsiders, whether they be people in other countries around the world, or just regular citizens of Tokyo-3 who have little or nothing to do with Nerv. This short delves into that somewhat, and I really enjoyed seeing a story, albeit short, that touched upon that.

So, yeah, it probably wasn't what a lot of you wanted or expected, but I liked it. So, nyah.

It does a great job of showing how shit-your-pants terrifying an Angel attack would be to a normal kid who doesn't have an Evangelion. Hearing the Angel and the Eva battle it out in silence without a thundering orchestra was really eerie.

But near the end of the credits, after the camera has pulled back emphasising her isolation, there is a particularly close-sounding explosion at which she vanishes leaving us with a plain black screen.

It's that god damned Inception ending all over again. Did the top fall over or not?

From a purely story-telling perspective, the girl dying in collateral damage would be the more likely scenario, otherwise the story ends unresolved.

^ If collateral damage happens in that area. As the film ended, the explosions still didn't seem to penetrate the muffled sound barrier of the walls. But even then, seeing as how Shinji has survived the exact same situation in Ha, the only variable that wouldn't keep her alive in this case is her lack of the Main Character status.

I came across this vid on tokyotosho, it's about three girls who go to the same school in Tokyo 3 as Shinji, Rei, Asuka, etc. They're in a band, but they have to break up because one girl's family is moving away from Tokyo 3 for the sort of reason you'd expect, namely Angels stomping the place on a regular basis. It's about ten minutes long, and is very well done; check it out:

Makes you wonder if the shelters served any purpose at all of if they were just false reassurance from Nerv...
