I think it is a well known fact that TheFineBros are talentless hacks of the worst kind.

I still like some of thier videos just for short entertainment, its videos like this and their megaman ones where they piss me off because they specifically pick people who will close-minded about this sort of stuff or just bad at games, a more diverse pool is better and sometimes they actually bother to do that.

They make content in their videos without saying anything at all. Reaction vids are cool and all, but one has to be careful building an identity constructed solely on the words of others without yourself to contextualize them.

The mention of Markiplier made me want to watch the FineBros video, but I see that his reactions are interspliced with everyone else's. Crap. But what little I did manage to see by skipping through and trying hard to ignore everyone else was awesome. Markiplier.

Skip to 1:09:30 in the webcast for the above shenanigans. The Misato cosplayer is Hayato Tanaka who wrote the script for Carnage.

I have no idea how long this has been the norm, but it seems a lot of people refer to Takeshi Honda as shishō (師匠): master/teacher.

Mahiro Maeda referred to him as such during their webcast. Quite a few people in this webcast did the same and so does the twitter. I wonder what this means for him in at a post-Anno khara...

EDIT::

Turns out the next short, Gridman is based on an existing thing:

Wow, looking at Honda's resume, it's really surprising he hasn't helmed a series yet.
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

Maybe Honda is just the type that doesn't really care about directing and is perfectly happy just animating? We'll probably have to wait and see until after Eva is done.

It seems that Moyoko Anno's short might be related to this: https://greenfunding.jp/lab/projects/925-party-x

The youtube video and some pics later down the page match what was in the Animator Expo trailer.

Honda's nickname was supposedly coined by Takahiro Kishida when they worked on Bubblegum Crisis so it's been around since then (1991).

The site credits him with planning but Maeda called Honda co-director of the short on twitter:

This aside he hasn't shown any interest in directing.

Non Japanese version. The crowdfunding is done by her agency. It's probably done to sell exclusive merchandise rather than fund the film. It's not a bad idea but it seems kind of dishonest the way they do it.

These guys probably have enough money, but this is part of trying a new approach that is popular now.

Also possible sequel to this one.

Nice animation. ... Did absolutely nothing for me. For me it's the worst short so far.

Yes, this one fell flat with me. Not really much to recommend it.

Pretty cool, but this is made for fans of the original show. So no fangasm over here.
Question to anybody that knows more about this stuff than me: Is a Dragon Ball short theoretically possible? They got the rights to make this too.

Also, the Eva short is the only one that gets no interview. How cool is that? :P
Eva is always mysterious. They were faithful to that.

I can dig it.
