Hey everyone,

I've been searching for pictures of the ''turret buildings'' featured in the original series, either the ones with machine guns or the ones with missile launchers. Evangelion 1.0 had A LOT of mounted turrets (especially on the mountains), but I don't recall seeing the ones disguised as buildings that we see in the original show.

Do any productions sketches or artwork of these exist?

Here's a reference of one of the buildings I am refering to:

Looking through the various books there doesn't seem to be a lot of reference art for the original series for those buildings. There's a few general city shots but that's about it.

There's lots and lots of sketches, layouts and 3DCG models in the 1.0 and 2.0 CRC books.

On the whole I don't think there was much pretense of disguising weapons within the city. Even in the original they had giant warning labels everywhere and in ENT now that most of the city is 3DCG they can easily map text and other stuff onto the models and everything is meticulously labeled and numbered.

Thank you for looking, I appreciate the time you invested in my very specific request. =) I wonder if the only way to find good references for these would be to take screenshots of the show...

In any case, thanks for your help, TMBounty_Hunter!

I remember that particular missile launcher building (#303) being part of recycled animation in a whole lot of episodes, but there weren't any battleship-style gun turrets like those seen in 1.0 as far as I recall.

UrsusArctos: Yes, it is recycled quite a bit. I looked through the series and movie and realized they always show that building 303.

Funny detail: Even though the fortress city got wiped out near the end of the series, in The End of Evangelion we see building 303 again, still standing. NERV attempts to utilize it to resist the assault of the UN aerial forces.

...and my dear building 303 is completely useless.
SPOILER: Show

I thought it was useless against Angels, but seeing it be useless against the UN forces just breaks my heart.

Ha ha, is it really a surprise that something that's totally useless against seventeen different Angels proves to be just as useless against the eighteenth Angel, mankind? Like Fuyutsuki said in the fight against Shamshel, Nerv's automated weaponry exists purely to waste taxpayer money!

You really seem to have a flair for capturing and posting images to prove a point. Some of the great analytical posters of yore - people like Shin-Seiki and Eva Yojimbo - were masters of the art. Here's hoping that you keep up that tradition! :ritsuko_mug:

I'm looking for a screenshot. Who can help?

I'm trying to find a screencap of Rei saying "No. I just don't eat meat." I know it's from one of the movies but I don't know which one, nor do I have access to them. With subs of course.

A google search only brings me one result, which is from this forum, but the actual imageshack file is down so I can't make it larger.

Thanks in advance!

She says that in 2.22, at 24:18.

I can make a larger screencap if needed.

I seem to recall her also saying that in the ramen stand of episode 12 but couldn't find it; might be in the Director's Cut only.

There's no DC episode 12. Looking at the scripts, it would be at the end of the scene where Misato briefs the Children on her scheme to catch the falling Angel.

You're right, but now I see her choice of words is not the same. My Japanese is rudimentary but in Rebuild, she says she doesn't eat (tabenai) meat; in the original, she says she doesn't like (kirai) meat.

Looks like Ozreth was specifically referring to the Rebuild scene.

I'm looking for some fanart of Shinji with longer hair? Just to give me a general idea of how he would look like.

Well, in Anima he has Kaji's hair, if that counts.

Otherwise the only long-hair Shinji I've seen is Shinjiko.

He is literally never drawn with long hair! There's that Anima picture in which he has a pigtail (but still short in front), but apart from that these are absolutely the longest his hair gets in the 650 pictures I've just run through:

Not counting Shinjiko pictures, of course, as the style's different, naturally!

Well, I was only expecting you to look at the face and hair really - you didn't say anything about the pictures as a whole.

EDIT: Yeah, i imagined you didn't. It just that it came off as rather ungrateful at the time. Sorry for having been so rude about it.

Anyways here's another Anima picture if you're interested:
