Yeah. You read right. This is for everything that doesn't have anything to do with Eva.

Are we living a life that is safe from harm?
Of course not. We never are. But that’s not the right question. The question is are we living a life that is worth the harm?

I read in a tweet, that according to another scientist who worked on the project, he actually said, "I guess it worked, huh?" :D
I'm curious, is the second quote something that has deeply penetrated common parlance in English speaking countries as well?

Two movies from the 90s also have some of my favorite quotes. I've used both these speeches as examples of inspirational speeches in college, and memorized them both as part of the assignment.

First is from Braveheart. Yes, it's historically inaccurate, but its still an epic movie to watch, and one of Mel Gibson's best movies.
William Wallace: Sons of Scotland, I am William Wallace.

Young soldier: William Wallace is 7 feet tall.

William Wallace: Yes, I've heard. Kills men by the hundreds, and if he were here he'd consume the English with fireballs from his eyes and bolts of lightning from his arse. I AM William Wallace. And I see a whole army of my countrymen here in defiance of tyranny. You have come to fight as free men, and free men you are. What would you do without freedom? Will you fight?

Veteran soldier: Fight? Against that? No, we will run; and we will live.

William Wallace: Aye, fight and you may die. Run and you'll live -- at least a while. And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take our FREEDOM!!! Alba gu bra!

And the second is the speech from Independence Day
President Whitmore: Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. “Mankind.” That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can’t be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it’s fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom… Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution… but from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We’re going to live on! We’re going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!

Cecil Palmer wrote:"The City Council announces the opening of a new dog park at the corner of Earl and Sommerset, near the Ralph’s. They would like to remind everyone that dogs are not allowed in the dog park. People are not allowed in the dog park. It is possible that you will see hooded figures in the dog park. DO NOT APPROACH THEM. DO NOT APPROACH THE DOG PARK. The fence is electrified and highly dangerous. Try not to look at the dog park, and, especially, do not look for any period of time at the hooded figures. The dog park will not harm you."

One of my all time favorite quotes, said to me by one of the Sergeants at my basic training regarding the 62 year old Colonel overseeing the program: "Never underestimate an old man in a job in which people tend to die young"
I can see why Gendo hired Misato to do the actual commanding. He tried it once and did an appalling job. ~ AWinters
Your point of view is horny, and biased. ~ glitz2hard
What about titty-ten? ~ Reichu
The movies function on their own terms. If people can't accept them on those terms, and keep expecting them to be NGE, then they probably should have realized a while ago that they weren't going to have a good time. ~ Words of wisdom courtesy of Reichu

Charismatic leaders should come with a warning label: May be hazardous to your health.
-Frank Herbert-

In America, through pressure of conformity, there is freedom of choice, but nothing to choose from.
-Peter Ustinov-

If you who own the things people must have could understand this, you might preserve yourself. If you could separate causes from results, if you could know that Paine, Marx, Jefferson, Lenin were results, not causes, you might survive. But that you cannot know. For the quality of owning freezes you forever into "I", and cuts you off forever from the "we".
-John Steinbeck-

America touts itself as the land of the free, but the number one freedom that you and I have is the freedom to enter into a subservient role in the workplace. Once you exercise this freedom you've lost all control over what you do, what is produced, and how it is produced. And in the end, the product doesn't belong to you. The only way you can avoid bosses and jobs is if you don't care about making a living. Which leads to the second freedom: the freedom to starve.
-Tom Morello-

You can trust no one. It's not a cynical thing. I trust people to be people, to act in their own self-interests. If you can understand that, you can use that!
-John McAfee-

BEEP BEEP BEEP! What's that? Oh sorry, that's just the you-can't-make-this-shit-up alarm!
-JonTron-

I believe that there is an equality to all humanity: we all suck.
-Bill Hicks-

I'm tired of this back-slappin' "isn't humanity neat" bullshit. We're a virus with shoes, okay? That's all we are.
-Bill Hicks-

If no one had applauded, I'd still be doing the bit. How? We don't know. You have to rationalize on your feet. All I know is I got a script and I'm heading towards the ending.
-Bill Hicks-

Who do you think would be the type of person to attach extra large googly eyes onto their boobs, then proceed to jiggle their boobs to make the googly eyes wiggle?
-don't remember, I just remember reading it online somewhere (which made me spray what I'd been drinking at the time out of my nose)-

You pay attention to the plot, I'll look up animal dicks.

"Pay attention to the language." This is the most important lesson I learned from George Carlin. Learn what words actually mean and pay attention to how often people misuse words--either because they are idiots or, often, because they are deliberately trying to take advantage of you with bullshit. The classic trivium is gone: grammar, logic, rhetoric. People now barely learn grammar, completely skip logic, and then their rhetoric is nothing but idiotic bullshit.
