What are some of you all's favorite anime songs?

Some of my favorites:
Ano Natsu He - Spirited Away
Inner Universe- Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Valse de la Lune - Wolf's Rain
Days - Eureka Seven
Gravity - Wolf's Rain
Strangers - Wolf's Rain
Fukai Mori - Inuyasha
Pearls- Cowboy Bebop
Battle Cry - Samurai Champloo
Obsession - .Hack//SIGN
Angel of Doom - Rebuild 1.0

I'm sure this thread has been made before, but I couldn't find it in a search. Nothing wrong with a new, updated thread anyway, right?

I adore the Ghost in the Shell: SAC soundtracks! In addition to Inner Universe, my favourites from it are: Cbristmas in the Silent Forest, Cyberbird, From the Roof Top, Lithium Flower, Monochrome, Rise, Run Rabbit Junk, Torukia, Some Other Time, Velveteen and Zero Signal. From the '95 film soundtrack I adore the 'Chant' trilogy, Nightstalker and Floating Museum. Ballade of the Puppets trilogy from Innocence is also pretty good.

Of course there's 'Tank' and 'The Real Folk Blues' from Cowboy Bebop, the only other track from the series I know by name is Road to the West, I plan to look into the soundtracks next month.

I also have the three Death Note anime soundtracks, my prime favourites from which are L's Theme, Solitude, Sympathy, Death Note and Near's Theme.

Susumu Hirasawa's "Forces", from Berserk. In fact, Berserk's whole OST was awesome.

Soundtracks to the old Space Pirate Captain Harlock and Galaxy Express 999 titles were kickass as well, but I have no idea where you could find those.

Seconding Yoko Kanno. Her work really goes above and beyond the average ost.

And I have to put a good word for G Gundam's music. It's so delightfully cheesey and never fails to get me pumped up.

Also, FLCL. Of course.

Series where I've noticed the BGM enough to say "this is good" -- well, Princess Tutu goes without saying, really, being a special case, but also

Noir
Gankutsuou
Simoun
Letter Bee
Ghost Hound
Paprika

as opposed to generally fading from memory as anything distinct from the mood of the visuals.

OP/ED choices really go here -- viewtopic.php?t=5306 (even though that thread is mixed A/V, rather than just the music)

Well, this thread wasn't specifically about openings and closings. Granted, that's probably what will get mentioned most in this thread, I still wanted it to be open to all sorts of music. About half of my list doesn't appear in an opening or ending.

Wow, I literally just did exactly what Tines said not to 'cause I didn't read any other posts at all.

But seriously, those are two of my favorites, regardless of openings or closings.

Exactly -- OP/ED specific stuff can go in the other thread, especially if it turns to the visuals; this one is more for the broader scope of the music throughout.

For example, I gave Noir as a favourite -- and what really makes that are the character themes, Salva Nos and Canta per me; the OP and ED are done by different artists, and are much weaker than the music used within the story just as background.

Pretty much all the music from Eva, durrrhurrr :P

Always adored the two-mix songs for Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, especially Just Communication. Probably my fave song from an anime EVER.

I love the entire Revolutionary Girl Utena soundtrack, but especially Anthy no theme.

Lilium from Elfen Lied melts my heart, even though that show was pretty bad.

I happened to check out the Spice and Wolf OP about 2 days ago although I haven't seen the anime itself (yet).

Wow, really, this song is beautiful. It sounds good all by itself, unlike some anime themes that I realize I mainly like because I associate it with the anime itself which I enjoyed.
