[LAEM] The Eva shouldn't look like monsters

i've been biting my tounge about this for ages now, but doesn't anyone care that the evas look like monsters? they're not supposed to! it's supposed to be a surprise when they tell you. i think they need to 'mechanise' them a lot more.

am i alone on this?

Monster, demon, oni, giant, etc.... Anno's intention was a savage creature just barely within the control of man. And I fail to see how WETA's designs have deviated from that concept. The Evas were never supposed to be mecha. If you look through some of Yamashita's design work, The Evas in somecases are quite similar to WETA's concepts. They aren't technically robots, they are cyborgs. Biological entities augmented with technology. I for one like the more organic feel WETA's preliminary designs have. I just don't want them to get too... weird...

i geuss so, but the concept art just looks....too organic. it's supposed to be a restrained bio-mech-cyborg-thing soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside. but in the concept art it looks like a purly organic creature with some serious metal accerories e.g. eyes, open mouth has orginary teeth etc.

If... "organicizing" Yui didn't render the (seemingly) inevitable result of GINO's anthro sister, I don't think people would have as much trouble with the WETA designs. The current (circa two years ago) concepts just open painful wounds, and the semblance is too tempting not to point out.

Of course, the turtle is not quite the fictitious "Baron of Hell" one would expect.

Yui looks like Yankee Godzilla. Some people noticed, some people didn't, but most made that connection either consciously or subconsciously and it pissed them off.

I don't have a problem with WETA's design for the EVAs.

However, I do have a problem with Misato's, or whoever "Susan Whitall" is supposed to be in the concept sketches. She looks like a cavewoman. I really hope they don't use that concept, or that name. :(

Eh, I like the new design for Shou
Its got the monster thing down pretty well

They haven't. Nobody's heard anything because nothing has happened at all. If someone says something ou find questionable, Google it. If it doesn't show up on at least six websites, it's nothing, and even if it does, it's probably just a joke.

Yeah, i haven't heard anyone, all I'm sure off is that if they're gonna make a hollywood version of EVA they're gonna have crappy actors!!
