So as I came back to the world, still no news with the 7 remake, unfortunately.

I got FFV on my phone and just beat it today. Liked it, a bit of grinding with ABP but in the end, Lenna became a summoner, and everyone mimics. Mimic'd a dual cast of Leviathan and Bahmaut aganist Neo-Exdeath. Everyone w/haste and no MP cost? Yea I didn't even get hit by him.

Now I'll try and do the bonus content.

I have a question regarding the license boards in FFXII. Are you able to give a particular item or ability to someone else in you party who has the right license for it. I don't see a way how I can equip them as such.

As long as the character has a license for the item or ability, and as long as you have the item or ability available in your inventory, the character should be able to use it. In other words, it's not enough for your character to just have the licence to use Curaga; you also have to purchase the spell from a store so that it's in your inventory. EDIT: or find the spell on the field, which is required for some

I've been playing a lot of the post game in FFXII. I obtained all the Espers, and have completed all the hunts except for Yiazmat, which is the superboss of the game. There's another secret boss I'm aware of, however every time I think there's nothing more to do, I always find something. Ashe as a Black Mage / Bushi is OP as hell, especially with the spell Scathe. Balthier as a White Mage / Archer is also pretty awesome, and he's equipped with the Turtleshell Choker which allows him to cast spells with money instead of MP; as long as someone else has the Cat Ear Hood, which converts licence points into money, this is completely viable. Once all my characters are maxed out in level, I should be able to breeze through Trial Mode, which will be the last thing I'll do for the game.

I've re-optimized my job configuration in FFXII, focusing on variety of abilities, as well as which role suits each character's personality. I realized it was redundant keeping the White Mage and the Archer together, because they both can learn Raise; better to split the jobs between two people so that I can have more coverage of people who know Raise. I also realized how useful the Monk role is for having so many supporting abilities, so I gave it more priority during my distribution process. I kept my emphasis on ensuring all characters could target flying enemies, and as I currently have it, the only two characters that don't know a Raise ability are my primary tanks (and they can just use Pheonix Downs if necessary). So behold my optimal configuration, and I challenge anybody to improve upon it. (Please do, because I want to make this team better if possible).

SPOILER: Show
Vaan - Shikari / Monk:
Secondary Tank and Secondary Support
Notable Abilities: Steal, Telekinesis, Raise, Esuna, Curaja, Holy,
Flying Enemies? Check
Raise Allies? Check

The Shikari is a wielder of daggers with high speed, meaning more frequent actions, and is the only job with natural access to the Telekinesis ability (which allows melee strikes on flying enemies). The Monk offers extremely high vitality, high attack, as well as several supporting abilities that essentially make it the second White Mage (arguably more effective support than the Red Battlemage). Vaan is the all-rounder, so emphasizing his skills all round is useful.

Balthier - Machinist / Red Battlemage:
Secondary Tank and Secondary Support
Notable Abilities: Steal, Raise, Curaja, Darkja,
Flying Enemies? Check
Raise Allies? Check

The Machinist is a gunner, and is Balthier's implied native job. The Red Battlemage is a cross of the Black Mage and White Mage roles, learning the average abilities of each, plus a few unique ones of its own. I also like Balthier as the Red Battlemage because it's more closely associated with his father's occupation.

Fran - Archer / Foebreaker:
Secondary Tank and Secondary Support
Notable Abilities: Cura, Raise, Steal
Flying Enemies? Check
Raise Allies? Check

The Archer is Fran's implied native job, and also can access the Cura and Raise abilities, making it useful as both a secondary tank and a secondary support. The Foebreaker is a high vitality role, usually used as a tank. Fran is another all-rounder with relatively weak stats, so the added vitality helps her out.

Basch - Knight / Uhlan:
Primary Tank and Secondary Support
Notable Abilities: Telekinesis, Esuna, Curaja, Regen, Bravery
Flying Enemies? Check
Raise Allies? NO

The ultimate tank, which Basch is naturally suited for with his high attack and vitality. The Knight can potentially access Telekinesis, and can also learn some secondary support abilities. The Uhlan is a spear wielder, and offers the highest damage output in the game.

Ashe - Black Mage / Bushi:
Primary Tank
Notable Abilities: Scathe, Flare, Firaga, Blizzaga, etc, Steal
Flying Enemies? Check
Raise Allies? NO

Ashe has the highest natural magic, as well as a decent attack, so I stuck her in as the primary offensive magic caster. The Bushi job wields a katana, which calculates damage based on magick power, so the pairing with a mage is always a good choice.

Penelo - White Mage / Time Battlemage:
Secondary Tank and Primary Support
Notable Abilities: Arise, Renew, Regen, Bubble, Esuna, Haste
Flying Enemies? Check
Raise Allies? Check

Penelo also has a really high natural magic and high vitality. As the White Mage, she is the primary supporting role. The Time Battlemage wields a crossbow, allowing them to target flying enemies, and uses time magic, which is most useful for Haste.

Sorry for a double post, but Episode Ardyn was announced for FFXV and the December patch will add the ability to switch and play as any of the bros in the main game at any time, ultimately fulfilling the feature so many people wanted :D

That actually is a neat detail to add. I'm glad I haven't finished XV yet, and I may actually be tempted to start a new profile eventually.

I'm very anxious, they're going to ruin the original ending with Noctis' dlc. That really resonated deeply with me and made me cry. To change that would render the game utterly devoid of any thematic relevance.
For all its formal faults, I really enjoyed the fractured storyline of the original version. Cutting out most of the jumbo-mumbo prevalent in many other installments of the franchise thus allotting a bigger percentile of the show on the gameplay really was my jam at the time.

I agree that it'll be a big misstep to overtire the original story, but many people are speculating that there will be a decision tree near the end. Your choice will lead to a different last few hours of gameplay to reach the finale. This could work if for example in the new version Noctis
SPOILER: Show
does not go into the crystal and does not age. Imagine he goes to Insomnia young, potentially revisiting the versus 13 themes.
But of course it is also possible they'll ruin it, which is even more likely than them doing it right.

Just the other day I was playing FFXV and thought to myself, after losing a race to Gladio, "This doesn't matter in the end anyway". It backfired, because reminding myself of the bigger picture and especially the ending made everything I was doing feel like it didn't matter.

The same day -- the same day -- I learned that this new DLC was coming, and my motivation to continue the game was rejuvenated. I'm no fan of the existing ending, so the prospect of a new one excites me. I'd probably be excited even if I liked the ending, just because of the new opportunities that new story content (truly new, as in, content that changes the story rather than simply exploring a previously-unrevealed part of it) brings.

Uematsu working on FFVII remake it seems.

Nomura illustration for the Dragon Quest release.

My position on this btw, I hope the team well, but the remake isn't for me personally. I feel the og is perfect the way it is, and I'm not that much of a fan of Nomura's later general style.
I'm very interested in following this project though.

More Uematsu is also always good.

I would love, if VII-IX would be remade like this:
-Remake the beautiful backgrounds into HD
-Remake the character models into high-fidelity versions.
-Orchestrate the beautiful soundtrack (or use the orchestrated versions)
-optionally add
-remove the load times, and most importantly, speed up the fights
-get rid of the loading times
I adore everything about FFIX, but the fights move so slow, I couldn't even finish the first disc.

∆ I agree the games should be kept in that format, with backgrounds.
But then I start thinking about the music. There's no version of One Winged Angel as powerful as the original imo, they don't have that energy, the music has a special atmosphere.
I just think FFVII is a product f its time, you can make new interpretations, not replace it. I'd just streamline some gameplay stuff to make it more appealing to newer audiences, more people should experience FFVII.
Although I played it 2012 and had no problem at all.
The chibi character models I'd keep too. They fit with the sometimes totally crazy things that happen.

VIII would need a complete battle overhaul lol.

I, too think that VII aged very well. One can play it today, no problem.
I guess that you think that way because you know it for the longest time, I know how it feels. I was very not happy with almost every change they did to Majora's Mask 3D, even if my brain told me it was "for the better". I've accustomed to it in the meantime. The only thing that still makes me sad, is that they've ditched the beautiful clock animation. I get that this would have eaten to much space, but still...
Anyways, if they used new music, I guess they could also put a switch into the menu to let people choose, which version they wanna listen to.

Also, I've written that they should optionally add, but haven't written what they should add, lol. I'm dumb. I wanted to suggest adding voice work (with the option to toggle it off, of course)

I'd just prefer that kind of remake than what they are doing now, eating all of Squenix' resources for 5-8 years. I mean, we could dive into a whole new world instead!
But the fanbase gets what it's screaming for I guess, lol.
So I hold out hope that this iteration of VII will be nice to play as well.

Idk, it's been a long time I've played 8... I really love the world and story but the game itself is deeply broken, lol.

Yeah, I'm sure nostalgia plays a part in it.
But like you say, this 5+ year project will be something very different.
I just think it's sad this will, for many people, substitute FFVII.
On the other hand, they shouldn't be limited in making remakes.
I dunno. With the recent comments it seems like more than a remake it will be something more different, a Rebuild maybe lol.
I'd prefer that.

The PS4 and Steam rereleases of FFIX came with speed boosts, among other things, which makes the gameplay much more convenient. I recommend checking either of those out.
