Birthdays (and Genders)

It was brought up in the birthday thread in the OT forum, I never got around to adding the mod eventhough it was pretty simple. So I finally got around to adding it.

You can go into your profile and add your birthday (this is optional) and an "Age:" field will show up below your avatar and your birthdate will show up in your user profile. Additionally, people who have a birthday will show up at the bottom of the forum index. This is pretty much the same functionality that's in vBulletin's birthday stuff. There was some other mod that came with the birthday one where it also shows an icon next to your avatar that's your zodiac symbol, I'm not sure whether I'm going to add it, I don't want to make that part of the view thread pages look cluttered.

Let me know if people run into problems.

Nice. I approve.

Can we re-order so that Age is below Join Date? So it will read Join Date, Age, Location?

Now all we need is a mod to display gender, and we'll have a proper A/S/L.

I vote that the gender mod display as "dude" or "dudette".

There's a really obvious <br> in there when age is left blank. Can we do something about that?

If no age has been entered, there's an additional br tag inserted between join date and location anyway. Thought I'd mention it especially if another mode were to add another br tag.

Not sure how to get rid of that. The br's are hardcoded into the template. Before, when there were only 2 fields there (joined date and location), if one was missing the extra br's go unnoticed. But here, we notice them because there's 3 fields.

I guess we can move Age down to the bottom, or we can turn on the "Age is required" option in the admin panel, though that won't help with users who don't check the forums anymore.

Don't like the look of Age in the middle, might look better on the bottom. Also solve your br problem.

Well, there's the gender mod.

We can decide what we want the genders to say, for now, it's "Dude", "Dudette", or "None specified". It's joke easy to change them, just need to have access to the forum files.

Instead of separating the values by breaks, use divisions, and apply a clear:both; style as necessary.

NICE. I love this forum.

I really think the ordering should be:

Join Date
Age
Sex
Location

You know... ASL.

Why not change dude, dudette and N/S to deek, coont and potential tranny?

♂, ♀ and ⚥ or ⚲ (I don't have a font with a symbol to match the very interesting Unicode code-point u26B8 -- but then again, I don't see many candidates for using that one, outside of NGE itself).

In the admin panel, you have a choice of a text gender or image. The images are ones like what Mr. Tines unicoded. They're a little large though, so I opted with the text version. Of course, we can make whatever image we want to replace the default ones.
