Readers Rule List v1.0
Welcome one and all to Great Genius Shinji-Samas Shinji Ikari Raising Project which is not only a CYOA but an experiment in democratically run role playing as well! In this CYOA you goal will be to meant people, fight angels, get Shinji on a (GASP!!) date in a bid to find the nookie and become an über-pimp just like dear old dad.
To this end for the most part this game is run like any other CYOA, your given a list of options to choose from and after some time Great Genius Shinji-Samas comes in and checks to see what choice is the most popular and then post a response based on it but the difference this time around is there stats involved which means rather then things being handled at the whim of the writer each choice has a value which effects the out come of the next post!
Alright, let’s party like it’s 2015 and get this train wreak a rollin’.
Meet the cast:
Here we’re going to go over the various characters Shinji will be interacting with. You can try your hand at having Shinji date any of them, young or old (yes Shinji can try to bring out the inner pedo-bear in the adults of this story), man or women with the only exceptions being Shinjis mom and dad (maybe…… Japan is pretty weird on theses kind of things).
This CYOA uses various stats to mark Shinjis progress and as a way of determining how likely Shinji is exceed at a given task so for the most part you want Shinjis stats to be high as possible (with the exception of Stress and perhaps Sexuality, see below).
Each stat is tracked numerically (well some most of them, Morality is an exception) with a minimum of 0 points (except for Sexuality which can go negative) to a maximum of 1,000 points (again with the exception if Stress).
A the start of this CYOA Shinjis starts out with a couple of points in each stat and can increase them by having Shinji engage in various activities such as studding and working out, buying items from shops and occasionally by choosing certain options when you guys are given your multiple choice story hooks.
Ok, now on to what Shinji stats are and what they will be doing, the 3 0r 2 letter code in parenthesis () in front of the stats name is that stats abbreviation.
Knowledge (KNO): A measure of how smart Shinji is and is used to pass test at school, how likely he is to notice something and helps in building relationships with some character as some people like their guys on the brainy side.
Starts out with 300points of KNO
Physical Strength (PHY): How fit and strong Shinji is, used to avoid getting sick, pass physical challenges and it helps attract people who like the brawny type.
Starts out with 300points of PHY
Morality (MOR): Unlike the other stats this one doesn’t haven’t numerical representation but rather Shinji is either a good boy (+) a bad boy (-) or indifferent (=). At the start of the game Shinjis MOR is = and at certain times during his day he has the chance to engage in acts that can be considered good or bad or can chose to do neither. If he does more good acts then bad at the end of the week his MOR changes to + or if he does the opposite it changes to – but if he does neither it stays =. This has an effect on building up relationships since some people like bad boys and some like good boys and the options you’ll be able to give Shinji. Shinjis MOR also affects his attitude and options you will be given during a post, if Shinji is of (+)MOR he’ll act more or less like the TV version of himself, if he has a (-) he’ll act like a dick and if he has a (=)MOR he’ll act kinda like his manga version of him self.
Starts out with (=) MOR
Sexuality (SEX): This rates how attractive Shinji is and is the only stat that can go negative. When Shinjis SEX is normal he’s straight and attractive to girls with the higher it is the more attractive he is to them but it goes negative Shinji reaches for the rainbow and the more negative it is the more attractive he is to guys.
Starts out with 300points of SEX
Sensitivity (SEN): This covers how smooth of a talker Shinji is and is used to determine how well Shinji speaks (with in reason, we ain’t exactly Pulitzer Prize winners here), to help Shinji talk his way out of situations and well as to woo the characters how like a good talker.
Starts out with 300points of SEN
Stress (STR): This is the one stat you want to keep as low as possible, if it goes above your PHY stat Shinji will fall sick (for the affects of getting sick we’ll get into that in a second) and if his STR gets to be 3x higher then his PHY stat Shinji kinda drops dead from stress related heart failure (you now what they say, stress kills).
When Shinjis STR gets to be over his PHY by one point or more he becomes sick and is at minus 100 to all his stats (except of course for STR) and he doesn’t get any RP for hanging out since now one wants to be around some one how is sick (he can still lose RP though).
Shinji will be sick everyday until his STR drops back below his PHY (which is now at -100) and will recover the day after that happens.
Shinji can skip school when he’s sick; he’ll miss any test (he automatically gets an F) but will lose 80STR
Starts out with 50points of STR
Work Progress (WP): This is the first of Shinjis to combat stats, this represents how many resources NERV is willing to allocate to Shinji during his fights. You use theses WP to “buy “items and weapons to use before and during the battle (though Shinji will usually start out with at lest a Prog Knife and Pallet Rifle). Shinji earns WP by being successful in fights with the Angels.
Starts out with 300points of WP
Syncro Ratio (SYN): If you need me to go into detail on what this used for, why come you’re here? Anywho, this Shinjis second combat stat and is used to determine how powerful his Eva is in combat. And if you’re interested you can divide Shinjis SYN stat by 10 to get his “real” Syncro ratio.
Starts out with 390points of SYN
Money: Every month Shinji receives a hefty salary of 10,000yen from NERV for his services which equals about $100, boy that NERV, no expenses is to great for them! Of course Shinji doesn’t start out the CYOA as part of NERV so this stat doesn’t come into play until later on (and yes I know this isn’t really a stat but it’s here anyways so deal with it).
Even though Shinji doesn’t have such a generous payroll yet he still starts out with 5,000yen.
Given that this a large part of this CYOA is a dating sim the main point of this is going to be building up relationships with characters with the ultimate goal of going out on a date with them (yeah, I know; in all reality he should be able to just walk up to someone and go, “Hey want to go out?”, but where’s the fun in that?) and this is where the sim elements come in to it, as you guys have Shinji talk, hang out and do things with the other characters he will gain what we like to call Relationship Points (RP) with them and more Shinji has with them the closer they are however RP like SEX can be either positive or negative, when it’s positive people like Shinji but when he has negative RP with someone they dislike him so Shinji has to be careful with his actions.
-All characters in this CYOA start out with a certain amount RP based on how close Shinji is to them.
-Having a RP of between 1-299 with a character means Shinji is on good terms with them and they are associates but they aren’t just yet friends and he can only hang out with them in the appropriate setting such as if the associate is a schoolmate of Shinji he can only hang out with them at school and if they are a NERV employee he can only hang out with them if he’s at NERV.
-Having a RP of 300 or more means that Shinji is friends with them and can choose to hang out with outside of work or school.
-When Shinji gets a friend to a RP of 500 or more and is of the right SEX (positive SEX for girls, negative SEX for guys) he is close enough to them to ask them out on a date and the option of doing so will pop up whenever Shinji is with them. We’ll get into the affects of asking someone out when we cover dating.
-Now if you guys want to Shinji to date someone who’s of the wrong SEX but don’t want to go through the hassle of changing Shinjis SEX to match you can have Shinji convince them to go out on a date if his RP with them to is at lest 600 since at that level of RP they are really close but since doing this will be a bit awkward fro them Shinji will get a penalty affecting his chances of having a successful date. This option will pop up as well when Shinji is with anyone he has 600 or more RP with.
-Now if Shinji has a RP of 0 with someone what happens depends on whether he has just met them or not. If it is the first time Shinji has meet some one the default RP is 0 since they just met him and have no really opinion of him yet so his first actions with them will determine their outlook but if Shinji already knows someone and his RP with ends up dropping to 0 that means he’s lost a lot of there respect and now dislike him.
-When Shinjis RP with someone drops down to negative 1-299 Shinji has fallen out of favor with them, they don’t quite hate him yet but are pretty close. Shinji can still try to fix things with them by trying to gain back RP but it’ll be tougher to get back on good terms since you can only see them in the appropriate settings (i.e. either at school or at NERV) and all RP gained with them is halved until it’s back up till at lest 1 after which they become associates again.
-If Shinji manages to royally fuck up and gets someone down to negative 300RP they now hate him and want nothing to do with him anymore and Shinji can no longer win any RP with them. If Shinji gets three people to hate him it’s game over!
All the characters have three types of preferences they look for in people they want to associate with, a moral preference, a social preference and a dating preference though we’re only going to focus on the first two for now since they affects Shinjis ability to gain RP, the third one only affects dates and will be covered in the dating section.
As we covered back when describing what Shinjis MOR stats does, Shinjis moral state can affects how other’s relate to him, some people will feel more comfortable with Shinji if his MOR is (+) while others will like him more is he has a (-)MOR and while no on prefers a (=)MOR one way or the other no one dislikes either and all this in turn affects the amount of RP Shinji gains when hanging out with someone.
-If Shinji has the same Moral preference as the characters he’s hanging out with he’ll gain a +10RP bonus as they can relate better with each other but on the other hand if Shinji has an MOR opposite of their preference he will gain a minus 10 penalty instead (this penalty can only take the amount of RP Shinji has earned down to a minimum of 0, Shinji can never gain negative RP this way).
-If Shinjis MOR is (=) he doesn’t run the risk of losing RP but at the same time doesn’t gain any bonuses since while no one in this CYOA prefers their company to be neutral no one is against it either.
Out side of having moral preferences Characters in this CYOA also have one of two other stat preferences, they either like hanging around the brainy type preferring if Shinji has a high KNO or the brawny type preferring if Shinji has a high PHY (I know, in reality it would be a combination of theses things an probably others but let’s not get too compacted here).
-This works out to each character having one or the other of those two stats at a certain point level and if Shinjis KNO or PHY equals or success that point level all the RP he gains from interacting with them is increased by x1.5, there is no penalty if Shinjis stats are to low however.
Now let’s get into the things Shinji can do that will either cause him to gain or lose RP with people.
If Shinji hangs out with someone he gains 20RP.
-If Shinji hangs out with multiple people at a time divide that 20RP by how many people he’s hanging out with to a minimum of 1 since he’s not focusing on any one person, though if while hanging with multiple people Shinji ends up decidning to move off somewhere more secluded and only hang with one character he’ll double how many RP gains with them up to a max of 15RP.
-If Shinji does an activity with some one like study, train or work out or hangs out with time at school or work he only gains 10RP.
Picking the right dialogue options when talking to someone.
-5RP for a good but not great choose.
-10RP for a good pick.
-15RP for a great pick.
Buying things for them.
-40RP id it’s something they like.
-5RP id they don’t really like it.
Bringing them to a movie or going shopping with them.
-+10RP for going to movies on top of the normal 20RP for hanging out for a total of 30, +10 more if you Shinji buys them the ticket.
-Picking the right kind of movie can also affect how much RP is gained, we’ll cover this in more detail when we get to the daily activities .
-+50% bonus for going shopping if your going with a girl on top of the normal 20RP for hanging out for a total of 30.
-+5%5 bonus for going shopping with a guy on top of the normal 20RP for hanging out for a total of 25.
If Shinjis KNO or PHY matches or exceeds their preference all RP he gains with them is at x1.5.
-There is no penalty if Shinjis stats are lower then a characters preference.
If Shinjis MOR is the same as a characters moral preference he gets a flat +10 bonus any time Shinji does anything with them.
And here’s how you lose RP.
If Shinji doesn’t hang out with a character that he has 300 or more RP with (i.e. is a friend) for a week he loses 50RP with them. If this causes there RP to drop to under 300 what happens depends on how close they where before Shinji stated to stop hanging out, if they where between 300 and 399RP and the dropped to 299 or less they just become acquaintances since they weren’t all that close but if they had 400RP or more they instantly drop to 0RP with them since there just a tab mad over being abandon and Shinji has to rebuild their relationship with them.
-If Shinji does this to someone who he has less then 300RP with there is no point lose since they aren’t close so they don’t mind him not being there.
If Shinji made plans with someone and blows them off (i.e. they made plans to hang with Toji next Tuesday but instead ended up studied with Kenske) he loses 20RP with them.
Picking the wrong dialogue options when talking to someone.
-Loses 5RP for a pick made in bad taste.
-Loses 10RP for a rude remark or action.
-Loses 15RP for acting or talking like a total jackass.
If Shinjis MOR is the opposite as a characters moral preference he gets a flat minus 10 penalty any time Shinji does anything with them, however the lowest this can ever drop the amount of RP earned to more then 0 (for example if Shinji is hanging out with 4 other characters he normally would then gain 5RP with each character but if one of them has a opposite moral preference from Shinjis he would gain 0RP from them since they don’t care for his attitude).
Of course what has been listed here is only the basic ways of earning or losing points as it could take up pages if we listed them all! OF the course of the CYOA new ways will pop up but by then you guys should be able to pick up on them.
Since this is more then just a standard CYOA adventure we’ve added a 3 phase system to handle the various things that Shinji can do, the Daily Events phase which is handled for the most part like your standard CYOA with a few dating sim twists added in, the Dating phase where Shinji tries to lay down his pimp game and score some play and a combat phase where you guide Shinji into combat against the angels though since it’ll be a while until the first fight we aren’t going to go over theses rules just yet, instead we’ll cover them just before Shinjis first battle since this is the most RPG like mode in the CYAO and it’s got a bit of detail to it. After the first battle the combat rules will be placed here for easy reference.
Now let’s go into the two phases we’re going to cover (for now) in a little more detail.
This is the phase that most of this CYOA is going to take place and where Shinji is going to get the bulk of his interaction with the other characters. This phase if further dived into two sub phase.
-The weekday phase that takes place in the story Monday through Friday where each day starts with Shinji in school (unless he’s a bad boy and decides to skip it) where he’ll be able to do some hanging out with his fellow schoolmates and Misato as well as the occasional test and after school Shinji has two event slots open up where you the readers will get to vote on what he does during each one from a list of event options.
-The weekend phase that takes place on Saturday and Sunday where Shinji has three event phases to choose from and has the options of going to the movies and or shopping.
During the weekday the day usually starts out at school during which Shinji can hang out with his classmates as well as maybe score a point or two with Mistato and will take the occasional test or two.
Shinji will have a test on every Friday and Misato will spring a pop quiz on her students every now and again the passing of which will score Shinji some bonus point not only in his KNOW stat but with Misato as well but failing them Shinji will gain a bucket load of stress and loose points with Misato for failing to learn.
To determine if Shinji beats or fails a test or a pop quiz his KNO will be compared to a super secret challenge number with the tests number being higher the quizzes that will get higher for both as the weeks go on by.
Passing a test/pop quiz earns Shinji KNO, lessons STR and score RP with Misato.
Failing on the other hand has Shinji gain STR and lose pint with Misato.
For taking tests:
If his KNO is equal to the tests challenge number he passes with a C, no KNO is gained, no STR is lost or gained and no RP is lost or gained with Misato.
If his KNO beats the tests challenge number by 25 he passes with a C+, +10KNO is gained, 10 STR is lost and no RP is lost or gained with Misato.
If his KNO beats the tests challenge number by 50 he passes with a B, +15KNO is gained, 15 STR is lost and 5RP is gained with Misato.
If his KNO beats the tests challenge number by 75 he passes with a B+, +20KNO is gained, 20STR is lost and 10RP is gained with Misato.
If his KNO beats the tests challenge number by 100 he passes with an A, +25KNO is gained, 25STR is lost and 15RP is gained with Misato.
If his KNO beats the tests challenge number by 125 he passes with an A+, +35KNO is gained, 35STR is lost and 30RP is gained with Misato.
If his KNO fails the tests challenge number by 25 he passes with a D+, 10 STR is gained and 10 RP is lost with Misato.
If his KNO fails the tests challenge number by 50 he passes with a D, 20STR is gained and 20 RP is lost with Misato.
If his KNO fails the tests challenge number by 50 or more he flunks with a F, 40 STR is gained and 30 RP is lost with Misato.
For taking pop quizzes.
If his KNO is equal to the tests challenge number he passes with a C, no KNO is gained, no STR is lost or gained and no RP is lost or gained with Misato.
If his KNO beats the tests challenge number by 25 he passes with a C+, +5KNO is gained, 5 STR is lost and no RP is lost or gained with Misato.
If his KNO beats the tests challenge number by 50 he passes with a B, +10KNO is gained, 10 STR is lost and 5 RP is gained with Misato.
If his KNO beats the tests challenge number by 75 he passes with a B+, +15KNO is gained, 15STR is lost and 10RP is gained with Misato.
If his KNO beats the tests challenge number by 100 he passes with an A, +20KNO is gained, 20STR is lost and 15RP is gained with Misato.
If his KNO beats the tests challenge number by 125 he passes with an A+, +25KNO is gained, 325STR is lost and 20RP is gained with Misato.
If his KNO fails the tests challenge number by 25 he passes with a D+, 5 STR is gained and 5 RP is lost with Misato.
If his KNO fails the tests challenge number by 50 he passes with a D, 10STR is gained and 10 RP is lost with Misato.
If his KNO fails the tests challenge number by 50 or more he flunks with a F, 15 STR is gained and 15 RP is lost with Misato.
That about covers if for school, next we’ll cover the Daily activities that Shinji can do.
There are three ways to have Shinji do this, one way is if Shinji has a (-)MOR he decide to skip school, either by himself or with some fellow schoolmates if he has enough relationship points with them, of course he’ll have to come up with an excuse to explain to Misato why he was off which determined by an average of his KNO and SEN stats, if he gets busted he loses some cool points with Misato and any friends he took with and will count heavily towards determining of Shinji stays with a (-)MOR at the end of the week.
To figure out how good of a story Shinji came up with his KNO and SEN are added together then divide it by 2 and compared to a target number the is based on how likely Misato is likely to by his story; if the total is grater then the challenge number he fools Misato and nothing happens but if he fails:
+50STR, getting yelled at by your teacher sucks!
Minus50RP with Misato, fucking up Misatos teaching record does not score Shinji points with her!
If Shinji brought friends along he loses 30RP from them for getting them in trouble and gain +20STR per friend from hearing it from them!
And it then gets harder to skip school; every time he gets caught the challenge number goes up.
This counts as 2 negative moral actions.
Another way is if Shinji is sick he can choose to skip school to get better faster, he’ll miss any test (he automatically gets an F) that might be on that day but will lose 80STR and will suffer not point lose with Misato or nor will it affect Shinjis MOR.
And lastly any Angle battle that takes place during school hours is a get out of school free card, any tests or quizzes Shinji would of missed are taken on the next available day.
Here’s a list of some of the things Shinji can do with his event phase, the name in the parenthesis () is who Shinji will be doing the event with which is followed by what Shinji gins by doing the event.
Sensitivity training (Satsuki) +20 SEN +10 STR
Study hall (Aoi) +20 KNO +10 STR
Free Time no stat gain -40STR
Hang with friends (outside of school and work): Need to be 300 or more RP with someone to hang with them, 20RP and -20STR
Phys Ed (Aoba) +20 Physical Strength +10 Stress
Synch Training (Ritsuko or Naoko, players choice) +10 Synchronization Ratio +20 Stress
Hanging out during school (Any pilots, 2 stooges, and Hikari): +10RP, -10STR
Club (depends on which club) +10 stat bonuses to any stat the clubs tied to with no stress increments, this option will come up later on.
Karate training (Kaede) +10 Physical Strength +10 Sexuality +20 stress
Combat training (Misato): Shinji can either chose to train in melee combat giving him a +1 to his Melee to hit score after taking 5 classes of it, train in ranged combat giving him a +1 to his ranged to hit score after taking 5 classes or work on his evasion giving him a +1 to his dodge score after taking 10 classes. Shinji can only work on skill at a time and only once per day (he can still do this twice on weekdays or three times on weekends but he can only train in each category in combat skills once a day)
Cleaning : Counts as two Positive moral choices fro when deciding Shinjis MOR, -20STR and Shinji gains full RP for hanging with both of them rather then dividing it up between them.
Shopping (Weekend only): Can choose to go shopping with friends with the RP divided up as normal but he gains a bonus on the RP gained, +25% if going shopping with the guys and +50% if going shopping with the girls.
The shops Shinji can go to are:
Music/Movie Store (opens later)
Bookstore (opens later)
Clothing Store (opens later)
Gift Shop (opens later)
Each item will affect Shinjis stats and has an outcome on Shinjis MOR, some items are positive and will count as an moral choice +MOR while others have an negative vive and count as an bad moral choice and some items are neither good or bad and count as neutral.
-Shinji can choose to buy stuff for other characters earning +20RP and counts as a moral choice.
-Each character also has a specific item they desire; these will not normally appear on any of the shops list so Shinji will have to do a little digging to figure them out but if Shinji manages to figure out what it is and gets it he will gain a large mystery bonus with that character
Shinji can go to two stores per event phase
Shinji can also try and steal items instead of paying for it if his MOR is negative.
To steal an item Shinji need to (yet again) beat a challenge number if he ties to steal more then one item it goes up for each additional item. To get away with stealing add his KNO and SEN together and divide them by 2 if this total is grater then the challenge number Shinji gets away with it, if it equal or lower then it he gets caught he has to pay for the item, gets +50STR loses 50RP with Misato, all prices on items goes up 50% per time he gets caught and the challenge number goes up by +50 each time he gets caught (of course given Shinjis job he can’t really get arrested)
This counts as 4 negative moral actions
Movie: Shinji can go with friends with the RP being divided a usual but can gain bonus RP by choosing the appropriate movies. Paying for a friend counts as a moral actions (Note: Shinji only gets one + Moral per movie for buying the tickets for friends no matter how many he pays for)
Romance film: +50%RP with girls, -25%RP with guys +10SEN
Sci-Fi/Action film: +50%RP with guys, -25%RP with girls -10STR (this is on top of the STR lost for hanging out)
Adventure film: +25% with guys or girls -10STR (this is on top of the STR lost for hanging out)
Movies cost 100yen per person to see, you gain +10RP if you buy the ticket for your friend.
Hag with Kaji: Shinji can choose to hang out with the Kaij and try to gain a little bonus SEX points from him but every now and then Kaji may play a game of gay chicken with Shinji causing him to loss SEX instead!
Once Shinji has worked his majick and has asked someone out the dating phase kicks in to which there are to parts of, the predate setup and the date its self.
The predate setup:
After Shinji has ask a character on a date he then needs to decide what day the date takes place on and what kind of activates they are going to be doing.
Choosing the day: Shinji can either suggest a day based on based on readers vote or the readers can have him ask them what day they want, when the day chosen for the date comes up it’s assumed to take up the last event phase for the day so Shinji can still do things such as picking up some new clothes for it and perhaps a gift (which will earn him some points)before going out on the date.
Activities: There are 3 types of activities that Shinji can set up for a date, Dining, Entertainment and the date’s finisher and each of the activities have there own sub options the Shinji can choose from which will affect the outcome of the date but also cost different amounts of money to do, for example if one of Shinjis choices are dining he can choose to either good to an expensive restaurant which will give him a better chance of having a good date but will cost him a lot which may mean he won’t have enough let after that to do any other activities which can cost him points in the end or he can pick a cheaper place and make up the points by being able to do more activities in the long run.
Of the three main activities Shinji can choose from Shinji needs to only choose one of them since it can get expensive going to them all, but every activity Shinji doesn’t do will negatively effect the date.
Here’s just some genetic examples of the sub potions and how much they will cost to give you guys some idea of the things Shinji can choose from, a couple of more options will pop up based on who Shinjis asking out and how much he knows them.
Dinning: The very basic essential for just about all dates, if Shinji is also taking his date out on a Entertainment option he can choose to have diner before or after doing it.
Cheep restaurant 100yen
Average restaurant 500 yen
Good restaurant 1000 yen
Excellent restaurant 5000 yen
Entertainment: Under this option Shinji chooses things to do with his date such as going to the movies or a play or other events of this nature.
Go to the movies 500yen
Go to a play 1000yen
Go to a concert 5000yen
Finisher: This is that extra something you end a date with in a bid for bonus points.
Moon light stroll 500yen (cab money? moon light stroll tax?)
Go to a club 1000yen
Carriage ride 5,000yen (horses are expensive in Tokyo-3 apparently)
When the date finally takes place it will be played out with you guys picking the things Shinji says and does which can earn or lose him points as they go through the activities that Shinji had set up and after the date is done The Great Genius Shinji Sama will take into account all the aspects of the date and by using a super secret resolution system to determine if the date was an success or a failure but before we to much father into what happens after a successful or failed date let’s get into some of the things that influences a dates out come.
Much like how each character has a Social Preference which influences how easily they can relate to Shinji each character also has a Dating Preference which does the same for a date. Each Character has a Dating Preference of either SEN, if they like the sensitive talker type or SEX if they are a bit more superficial which is at a cretin point level and if Shinji meets or beats it he will gain a bonus to figuring if his date was an success but unlike with Social Preference Shinji WILL receive a penalty if his stats are lover
If it is lower Shinji will get a plenty to his dated out come for every 10 points lower.
If it is higher Shinji will get a bonus to his dated out come for every 10 points higher.
Here’s some things Shinji can buy to affect the outcome of the date, once again theses are just some basics, add some more if you want
Things that increases the chances of success.
Bring a gift.
Bring a gift they like, this will net Shinji a nice bonuses.
Buy a new Buy new set clothes, this won’t net Shinji a bonus but will keep him from getting a plenty.
Buy a new set clothes of a MOR the same of theirs will also net you a bigger bonus.
Things that increases the chances of failure.
Don’t buy new clothes for the date-1
Buy new clothes of a MOR opposite of theirs -1
Bring no gift -1
If Shinji is of the wrong SEX orientation (for example he has a positive SEX and tries to date Toji) -2
During the date you guys will also give be given a choice of options that will give will affect the out come of the date, like say you do or say the right thing s will net a bonus and saying or doing the wrong things will net a penlty.
Skipping a date:
Of course at some point or another Shinji is going to have to skip a date either do to forgetting, being a dick or do to things beyond his control.
If Shinji skips the first date with someone with out an expectable excuse he loses 100RP (that jerk!)
If Shinji skips the first date with someone with an expectable excuse he loses only 25RP, however if it was do to a an Angel attacking and the person he’s trying to date is an fellow pilot or NERV personal no points are lost since they would have to be called in too.
If Shinji skips a date after the first with someone with out an expectable excuse he loses 50IP (What the hell is an IP? You’ll see in a few paragraphs) do to being dumped after the first, while still bites, isn’t as bad as being dumped on the first date.
If Shinji skips a date after the first with someone with an expectable excuse he loses only 10IP, however if it was do to a an Angel attacking and the person he’s trying to date is an fellow pilot or NERV personal no points are lost since they would have to be called in too.
Now let’s get into what happens after a dates chance of success is resolved.
There are three levels of success or failure Shinji can get, a normal success/failure, a big success/failure or and huge success/failure which will earn or lose him stress and Intimacy Points (which we’ll finally get after this part, but as a heads up you want to score as many points as you can.)
If the date is a success, Shinji gains +20STR (even successful dates can be stressful!) and +50IP
If the date is a big success, Shinji gains +10STR and +100IP
If the date is a huge success, Shinji gains no STR and +200IP
If the date is a failure, Shinji gains +40STR and +25IP (the date failed but Shinji gets some points for trying)
If is a big failure, Shinji gains +60STR and no IP
If Shinji fucks up and gets a huge failure he gains +100(!)STR and loses 50RP (as in Relationship points) if this was their first date or 50IP if they been dating for embarrassing the hell out of your date.
Now on to those Intimacy Points is was talking about.
Intimacy Points (IP):
These guys work kinda like Relationship points do but instead of being a show of how close of a friendship Shinji has with someone, this measure how in love he and another character are and is gained through dating and doing things together after dating (effectively replacing RP after a point).
In order to start gaining IP with some one first Shinji need to have a successful date and then from then on buying them gifts will earn him IP and RP and once their an official couple anything that gives RP now also builds IP as well.
Now like with RP, there are different levels of intimacy Shinji can be at. Though unlike RP there is no negative level (I’ll cover what happens if Shinjis IP drops to zero in a second)
If Shinji is at between 1-299IP with another character their just seeing each other and aren’t that close yet and Shinji can date other people with out too much worry (though for some of the more jealous characters if Shinji tries to hang out with two people he’s seeing but not yet an item he has a -20RP penalty). He can increases his IP with them by buying them gifts and taking them out some more.
If Shinji is at between 300-599IP with another character their now a couple, buying gifts and hanging out now earn IP and RP and dates get easier for Shinji to pass. Shinji now has to hang with them once a day and date them once at lest once every two weeks or he loses IP and if he’s caught messing around with or trying to date with another character he risks a break up.
If Shinji is at between 600-999IP with another character they are in love and will be tighter till the end so long as Shinji doesn’t mess up. Shinji can still earn IP as normal but no longer needs to take his partner out on a date to keep from losing points but can still do so to earn points. If Shinji is caught cheating he’s in for a world of hurt!
If Shinji ends up with 1000IP with another character he has reached pimp status! He can now see other people and his partner won’t mind as they are now open to experiment.
As to how you gain IP, well the number one way at first is going out on dates but of course dates run the risk of failure and hard on the wallet so here’s some other way’s to boost IP.
If under 300IP:
Buying presents, IP gained is equal to the RP they would of gained normally.
If over 300IP
Anything that would boost RP now boosts RP AND IP.
And of course if you gain IP you can also lose it.
When Shinji has IP with another character anything that would of subtracted RP now rakes away IP instead.
Epic fail in a date -50IP
If Shinji has 300IP or more and don’t date them at lest every two weeks -50IP
If Shinji has under 300IP and gets caught seeing another person who he has 300 or more IP -25IP (there’s no problem so long as the other people he sees are also under 300IP)
If Shinji has 300-599IP and gets caught going out with another person -200IP
If Shinji has 600-999IP and gets caught going out with another person -300IP and they will be a tad pissed at him.
Breaking up: Time to get into the fall out of a relationship gone south.
If Shinjis has less then 300IP with them the break up goes well but loses 25RP
If Shinji has 300-599IP with them and breaks up, things go a bit south, Shinji loses 300RP with (and they should be a bit made at them for a while if they still have enough RP to have an friendship)
If Shinji has 600-999IP with them and breaks up the shit hits the fan, their RP with him drops to 0!
If Shinjis IP is at 1000 and he for some reason want to end it his former partner now hates and is at -300RP!
If Shinji had less then 300IP with someone and it drops to zero the fall out isn’t two bad, they just weren’t meant to be a couple. -50RP
If Shinji had 300-399IP with someone and it drops to 299IP or less their relationship went bad somewhere and they deiced to go back to just seeing each other (though you should have them a little mad and disappointed with Shinji for a bit). If their IP then drops to 0 treat it as above.
If Shinji had 400IP or more with someone and it drops to 299IP or less the relationship is hit hard, they decide to not see each other for a month and during that time if Shinji is caught seeing anyone else he loses all IP with them and his RP with them drops to 0! After the month is over any IP Shinji gains are halved until he gets it back up to at lest 300IP. If Shinji ends up going to 0IP with them after dropping to under 300 the brake up is a hard one and Shinji loses 300RP with them putting their friendship in jeopardy.
Dating more then one character:
Given this is an CYOA the chances are good that you guys may try to get Shinji to date multiple characters.
Shinji can see multiple people with out to much worry (out side of some jealousy) if he has less then 299IP with everyone involved.
If Shinji is seeing some one with 300 to 999IP and decides to see someone else at the same time his MOR immediately turns negative and of course runs the risk of getting caught.
If Shinji has 1000IP with someone he can see other people with no penalty or change to MOR.
That just about does it for dating, so let’s move onto the last part; COMBT!
This will be added here after Shinjis first Angel fight.
Character List: This will introduce Shinji and all the people he will interact with, and possibly get to date (except for Yui and Gendo obviously) :

Yui Ikari: Still alive (this "scenario" takes place in my take on the SIRP and Angelic Days AU of 26), kind, caring, supportive, good old mom.
Gendo Ikari: Stern, strict, rigid, think Red Foreman from That 70's show.
Asuka Langley Soryu: Child hood friend, acts like a mom, hard headed, extremely intelligent, demanding
Hikari Horaki: Strong willed, serious, conventional, traditional, class rep.
Kensuke Aida: Best friend, dorky, military otaku, sensitive, smart.
Toji Suzahara: Manly, athletic, caring(?), your other best friend.

Kyoko Zeppelin Soryu: Wild Flirty, teasing, mischievous, clever, and seductive.

Ritsuko Akagi: An amalgam of her Anime, SIRP, and Angelic Days self.
Shigeru Aoba: Is like his Anime self, only slightly less cynical.
