Can Lilith Die?

I do not mean post third Impact -is she dead then?-

Adam and the children of Adam possess the S2 Organ which gives them infinite life but Lilith is not a Adam based being, she is a Seed of Life but is believed not to have an S2 Organ and thus will at some point run of of power or life correct?

So, is this true - can she die of age?

I think it's possible for her to die but not of age.

But only those given the S2 Organ may live forever right?

My view would be that of ThePRPD.

Lilith has presumable been down in Terminal Dogma for billions of years, yet is still game for another Apocalypse. Age is probably not a consideration for Angels.

As to the question of whether she can actually die, I tend to think yes. Lilith and indeed all the Angels can die. They are powerful, but not immortal beings.

Lilith physically dies in EoE though her soul (appearing as Rei 3) seems to live on considering she's seen at the start and end of the series, so yes. Yes she die, though not of age.

I could go on to another topic considering this but that is for later.

how can she love forever, she must have something keeping her going. I understand her children can not for they -now we could go biblical with this- Lilith left Edan so her children will not be able to live forever thus we die anyway back on topic, how does she stay alive but we do not. Is it that we are incomplete beings on a different scale then the our Angel cousins?

Some think that she herself has an S2 Organ but how can she if she is not Adam based, hmmm...

Lilith can be killed. She isn't less susceptible to damage than Adam or the Angels. If Gendo wanted it, he could have sent the Evas and destroy Lilith.

I'm not asking rather she can be destroyed by say the Eva's or something. I'm asking if she will die of age.

I would have to say; definitely not. I doubt the Angels experience things like ageing.

In the Eva-verse Lillith is the mother of all life.

I think it should be understandable that she has been around quite a while...

So for Lillith it's highly unlikely she can die of age. If that was the case she should have kicked the bucked more than a few centuries ago.

Lilith is a Seed of Life and is not to be categorized with humans nor Angels; the same goes for Adam. While the Angels possess the Seed of Life, and mankind possess the Seed of Knowledge, I don't believe it's stated that the Seeds of Life have nor lack either; but they do only have one or the other, otherwise they'd be gods. So it is my assumption that Lilith possesses the Fruit of Life; this grants Lilith the ability to not die of old age and to have an eternity to supply her children with life, but she cannot pass on the Fruit of Life.

This relates to the question of "What exactly is the Fruit of Knowledge?", and this question has its own thread dedicated to it somewhere around here, IIRC. My stance is that the Fruit of Knowledge has to do with Evolution. Humans did not start off smart, they evolved and gained knowledge bringing them where they are today, passing it down over the generations. Angels, too, are not very smart but they do have intelligence and appear to learn on a basic level. But Angels, not needing to reproduce, don't evolve. And they only grow more intelligent when their lives are threatened (which only happens when Angels clash with mankind), so their evolution remains at a standstill. Since human lives are so short, fragile and hostile, they evolved and stand where they are today.

I think of the angels (and the seeds) like the Elves from LOTR. They do not suffer from the effects of age or disease, but can be killed by grief or through injuries sustained in battle.

I guess that makes some sense, thank you guys. ^_^ Funny how the Angels can evolve as well. Seems like they get the better end of the stick huh?

The problem with this is that it means that Lilith has both Fruits, and can thus act as a god, and Adam is merely a half-Lilith. It also contradicts the FAR's intention of "keeping the fruits of Life and Knowledge apart."

Lilith does not possess the Fruit of Life. This is a fact. She probably gains energy from vacuum void energy via quantum mechanics, which may sustain her, but isn't like the S2 Engine in that it doesn't allow for infinite energy.

I wouldn't say that. The Angels are lonely, and don't seem to have any way of communicating with each other except for merging, and they seem to have a semi-solipsist mindset. I think the Fruit of Knowledge is knowledge of the other. To be able to be part of something more than yourself.

I never said that Lilith herself had the Fruit of Knowledge. I even stated that it was impossible for her to have both. I'm suggesting that Lilith has only the Fruit of Life but she passes down something which allows her children to possess the Fruit of Knowledge.

Lilith has to have the Fruit of Knowledge, though. Combining her and Adam is what causes the "Forbidden Union of the Fruits".

Yes, by trying to merge with them. Leliel basically eats Shinji, Arael rapes Asuka's mind, and Armisael infects Rei and tries to merge with her like some weird mock-pregnancy. And then there's the implied fungal infestation of Bardiel and Toji...

We have plenty of evidence telling us that the Angels can only be with the Other by making the Other and the Self into One. This is probably why the Angels can only figure out to be with Mommy by merging with her.
