Yeah. You read right. This is for everything that doesn't have anything to do with Eva.

I've been in a bit of a rut musically. Been practicing plenty, but I haven't made any songs/instrumentals in a while. So, in an attempt to increase my creative output, I'm encouraging myself to do shorter, simpler projects again. Here's something I made today in a few hours, and I'm quite proud of it for what it is. Enjoy!

This thread is a godsend to me.

I'm working on a lot of different scripts at once. I have one that's a psychological thriller involving voodoo sex dolls that I'm still working on the title.

My main goal is one that I've been passionate about: Jahogal: A Child's Epic - About two kids whose grandfather uses magic to create a world where they can preserve their innocence in their dreams while escaping the real world. FLCL, Evangelion and the films of Charlie Kaufman are the main influences of it.

As for the others

Greenbird - A Tarantino-esque popcorn movie about two father-and-son duos competing to become the most dangerous criminals in the city. The loser turns themselves in.

The Entity - A giant black mass (Think Leliel) appear in times square and eats up a woman, trapping it inside. There, the entity takes a form of a human explaining that it's body is formed by the negative feelings of human beings. The two must learn to live at peace.

Back in the spring I replaced my physical home server (a Hyper-V host) with a bigger and quieter machine (passive cpu cooling rocks!).

In the summer I linked the old host as a lukewarm backup of the main virtual machines using the built-in Hyper-V replication facility.

Now I am replacing the the main (virtual) servers - which were all running Windows 2003 [R2] - with new servers running Windows 2012 R2. So out go BOSS, SIDEKICK and MINION, and in come CHIEF, AIDE, and PEON. The three machines are respectively: domain controller + print server; backup domain controller + print server; everything Internet - mail, web for seven domains (with two different CMSs, forum, blog site, wiki, et al), sftp, torrents. The new machines will enable me to advertise IPv6 addresses for my public services. The domain controllers are running smoothly (getting the domain transferred to handle IPv6 smoothly was non-trivial, though), and so are the print services (though one of my three printers is so obscure that I can no longer download drivers for it, so had to do shenanigans to transfer the driver from the old server). The Internet server will take several days, mainly because of the amount of data to be copied across and organised. Changing from the 32-bit mail server to its 64-bit version is also not as simple as an upgrade ('cos the 64-bit one doesn't support 64-bit Windows 2003 R2). I am also experimenting with replacing Apache with Caddy for the web server, which can acquire and update free HTTPS certificates for any site automatically on the fly - however, I may have to use Apache as an additional proxy for one of the CMSs which needs fancy proxy manipulation that Caddy doesn't appear to have.

Well, at work we have to audits going on, so super busy there.

While on my own time (as DarkBluePhoenix), I've been making memes and posting them on imgur (both jpeg/png and gifs) and I've been writing my fanfiction Neon Genesis Evangelion: Legacy and posting it over on ff.net.

I've also been to the Cosplay Rush event, and I've filmed most of the cosplayer contest event, as well as some dancing footage :)

There's going to be another Cosplay Rush on Feb. 4th. I'll even be on stage!

For now, here's a small video from a mini convention.

There had been another convention that kind of surprised me (found out just two days in advance), called AniMatrix. I went there.
There's more footage to process.

Here's the first one of the contest, plus an individual video for the one performance that really stood out for me :D

There's now five parts of the main body of the contest, as well as one more video for another individual entry that stood out to me.

I'll make two more parts, and also there's some more footage (mostly of dancing) and the photos.

This is a little bit off-topic, but while we're talking about Russian fan conventions... what's Russian Eva fandom like? Or... what is it like being a Russian anime fan?

The Eva fandom could be bigger, I guess. I don't run into a lot of costumes (although there's usually at least one Asuka or/and Rei at a big convention). The writing base is not large, although it's active; I think I've read most of the worthwhile Eva stories that were written in Russian.

There's multiple anime conventions available each year (apart from the really big multi-fandom ones like the ComicCon, which include anime) in Moscow and St.Petersburg. I haven't really looked into what's happening in other places, althoguh I know that conventions do exist elsewhere; of course, a lot of people travel to the capitals for the big events.

PS: Finished all the contest videos for Cosplay Rush V16!

I've put together another set of videos from Cosplay Rush V16. It was held in a club; so, in the time when the actual contest wasn't on, there was dancing (by the contest participants and the club's hostesses).
