ITT: What are you working on right now?

Yeah. You read right. This is for everything that doesn't have anything to do with Eva.

This looks like the best thread to put this in. As I have completed the revisions to my novel, what I need now are beta readers. As there is no one IRL that I can turn to, I am asking there are any volunteers here who would be willing to do this. I will PM anyone interested a brief summary of the story to make sure they want to do this before there is any commitment. Thank you.

It's 230 in the morning and I've finished a long haul on the compositional portfolio I'll be submitting for University review and application. It's going well, although my weaknesses are showing somewhat more clearly than I would like.

Such is life I suppose, things to work on.

Working on a drawing for MAH BOI DOOONUUT!!!! He told me to draw a werewolf drinking tea in a wheelchair while wearing a monocle named Gerald.

I'm also working on a furry-themed NGE picture that will involve Shinji becoming a dog boy, as well as Rei and maaaybe Toji.

Getting the furry nicotine off this bunch is a project in itself.

I don't smoke. But this stuff ends up on everything in a smoker's house I am guessing.

Well, let's see.

I'm doing some retouching of Huitzil's spriteset, mostly correcting parts where the shading breaks its general rules (closer parts are lighter while farther parts are darker etc.). Making this into this, for example. He's sort of prone to this because of the unusual way hes sprited, he's made of a bunch of individual parts that are put together to form a complete sprite. I had wanted to do this for a Mugen conversion of my own a while back, but ended up stalling on it. However a fellow Mugen creator started working on a Darkstalkers project recently, and asked if I could compile Huitzil's sprites for him, so I'm finishing up the retouching while I do that. Unlike most of the other Darkstalkers characters, his animations vary a lot between each game, so he essentially has 3 different full spritesets to go through.

I'm still occasionally making MIDIs, mostly of Teyandee's soundtrack. Here's the latest one I did, just yesterday.

I also started working on resubbing Teyandee in an attempt to improve on Discotek's subs, which I felt had some problems. I've set up a blog for it here, which also serves as a general Teyandee fan blog.

After vowing to NEVER WORK ON FANFIC AGAIN :pointlaugh: 3 years ago, I uh, finished my Metal Gear Solid fanfic. See here: viewtopic.php?f=31&p=819948#p819948

Between this, my Sailor V visual novel, and the Eva Concurrency Project podcast, I think I filled out my nerd quota quite nicely this year!

I'm currently working on my various Eva fics, primarily The Catalyst and along the way little one-shots and a secret project that should be ready fairly soon-ish. Gotta say I've really enjoyed getting back into writing Eva fics this past year, been a nice way to de-stress from when my jobs had it's busier moments and something different to do than sit around and play video games all evening.

Man, I was so tempted to follow your example this morning.

As it is, I stuck to my original plan, and have started the ball rolling with a view to doing like others who have retired from my place of work, and downshift to part-time working for a transitional period. Though as the wheels turn exceeding slow, that may not happen until Easter, either.

I'm working on getting my musical butt back in gear. It's been far too long since I've produced an electronic track, and so I wanted to keep it simple. Here's something I came up with while playing Final Fantasy IX recently: https://soundcloud.com/pippi-kw/the-fog

Hard-wiring Ethernet into my wife's new pottery studio. It's too far from the house for the wifi to reach, and mains transmission doesn't work because the signal is blocked by the RCDs in the circuit. There's a new wifi access point in there now.

When done, she will use it to listen to the radio on iPlayer. Wifi to her phone which runs iPlayer; thence, bluetooth to a device which uses a proprietary system to transmit to her hearing aids.

Heh. Such a dutiful husband! Glad to see you're making good use of your retirement (also, sounds like a fun project in general, so that's a nice added bonus).

Just another extension of my home network...

When I was working I used it as a test-bed for things I planned to do in the office; thus, running my various servers in Hyper-V mirrored across two physical servers for warm backup, for instance, or recently IPv6 (my home is fully IPv6 enabled as of last month). Now I just do the same for my own convenience, and call it fun.

I've Filmed More Cosplayers! Comic Con RU, Game&Film Expo, CosplayRush

Postby Valikdu » Tue Jul 12, 2016 12:15 pm

Hey everyone. Since I'd written the first version of this post, I'd been to two more big conventions. I'll post links to their playlists in subsequent posts. I hope I've improved some since the MCC.
One of the new videos as a sample

A playlist for the Moscow Comic Convention 2016

I'd shot a lot of footage (mostly of cosplayers) during that event. That was the first time I'd recorded anything, but I'm determined.
First time I've seen Eva cosplayers here; for some reason, they're just rare... although these didn't take part in the expo event.

First stage of the event:

Part 1: single character acts at the expo. HD.
Part 2, more single character acts. Also HD.
Part 3, with the two exceptional Rogue cosplayers.
Part 4: the group acts.

Concerning the music: I had to mute the original sound in some fragments of these videos, where ContentID had thrown fits and had the video blocked in multiple countries because of the music that was played during the expo. Apparently, event the "Smile And Make Friends" song from a 1974 Soviet cartoon (originally played during the Dementor act) is owned by some company in Denmark... which is probably a load of crap... well, I've put nightcores and other things in to plug the holes.
[color=#00BF00]

And here's the stuff I've filmed while in the main hall.

Just wandering

Probably the best hall footage on this camera

Various bits and pieces

Second stage of the expo, from later in the day. I had to film this with a different camera, as the main camera ran out of juice and I had to use a backup.

Part 1

Part 2

And, after the expo:

Shenanigans at the Post-Apocalypse booth

The exceptional Lineage II elf cosplayers

Other great cosplayers

Wandering in the hall

I had planned to dedicate more time to a star cosplayer, Freia. But my batteries weren't very effective, with the second camera dying just after capturing 5 seconds of footage. So, here's this footage and some more of her as the expo announcer.

I'd tried to do some pictures of Shepard & company with a phone, not very effective.
