third Eva manga beginning: Raising Ikari Shinji

I'm not 100% on all the details, but it seems that the Girlfriend of Steel 2nd manga will either end or continue in another magazine, outside of Shonen Ace. In its place, a new Eva manga will start running: Evangelion: Ikari Shinji Ikusei Keikaku (Raising Ikari Shinji? Just the recent game, anyhow).

That was... surprisingly mediocre. Doesn't seem interesting in any way at all.

yeah, it boggles my mind that with all the shitty merchandise and adaptations, they can't let someone *remotely* talented or interested in Eva take a stab at a manga.

*I* could do better...!

I could do better if I ever got around to finishing the story.

Something tells me that this is actually better, it's just that this scanlation is really poor. There's a few bits of dialog that are awkward and can only be attributed to bad translation. And then there's the scans.... attrocious!

What kind of story do these game-based manga usually have? Just the typical dating sim type thing? I've never really felt interested enough to check them out.

Well, this one (from it's first stage) shares a lot in common with the alternate universe of 26/Girlfriend of Steel 2 game/manga. Not quite, but close enough.

As for the game, I know very little about it. Given that it's one of the many Princess Maker spin-offs, I wouldn't be surprised if it has a lot of dating sim elements, and is essentially just the same thing as Girlfriend of Steel 2, but with more Raising elements.

Wait a minute, this is a manga based on an evangelion version of princess maker? Hows that supposed to work?

I can see it now "Petite Princess Shinji"

If someone wants to pirate it to me, I'll write a walkthrough. It's fun to write walkthroughs that relentlessly bash the game they're for.

I liked the first issue, I always like seeing the Eva characters portrayed as normal folk. I wish they'd stop recycling that Rei-Shinji shower scene, even though this particular manga had the best repesentation of that scene I've seen yet.

Been there, read that... Somewhat mediocre, but I'm still intrested to see how it turns out. At least the art is much better than in Love Eva.

Any info one the second stage? Or have they abandoned it already?

I'm afraid I can no longer allow you guys to insult Love Hina with that farcical wordplay. It, as they say, owns y'all's asses.

Pffft. I will admit that I hate all of this crap. Girlfriend of Steel and all those other games and stuff. I mean, I know Evangelion is Gainax's prize cash cow, but their ruthless pimpage of the series just annoys me. Then again, maybe it's their way of sticking it to the people that made all that money off of Nadia while they didn't see a thin dime of profit for it.
