Yeah. You read right. This is for everything that doesn't have anything to do with Eva.

I watched four adjoining towns launch their rockets from the comfort of our mosquito-ridden back deck. Now I have to shake off the imaginary hangover and prepare a birthday party.

Talked about what jackasses people are for shopping on a holiday, then went home and partied. I also made this cake, which would best be described as a lemon meringue cake. Delicious.

I watched the highly illegal fireworks display my neighbor was putting on from my patio.

Yeah, I walked around by myself for miles and watched various families having fun with fireworks. The whole time I listened to Naked City's Grand Guignol and had a sideways scowl on my face. Snippets of it would have made a good short film if someone shot it. I thought about making a short film most of the time.

I was on call, and had to work a 24 hour shift at the hospital. It was a fucking disaster. 5 consults, 3 AMA discharges, 2 admissions, a bunch of non-sense cross-cover with the patients, and a partridge in a pear tree. I was so happy when it was over.

I celebrate July 4th but for some personal reason and has nothing to do with America, which is just as well because I do not need to pay attention to any (US) patriotism running amok that day, particularly so soon after the big festivities (and demonstration) surrounding the anniversary of HK handover to China on July 1st.

Tonight I'll be playing with explosives with a friend, getting drunk, and probably shouting nonsense incoherently with him about nationalism while watching A Few Good Men or Independence Day on his 50-something inch flatscreen. PATRIOTISM

And then I'll come home and watch some slow-paced art film about religion or something.

Friends are awesome.

Went to the local Fourth of July parade this morning.

Non-Americans might like to know that we're not all like Hal on the Fourth. The parades aren't really militaristic, either. Lots of marching bands, though, from all over. I was especially surprised to see one from Ontario, Canada -- made up entirely of Filipinos. Pretty cool.

I partied yesterday, so today will no doubt feel like an anti-climax no matter what I do. Which will probably be reading.
"Now, from Nature we obtain abundant information about ourselves, and precious little about others. About the woman you clasp in your arms, can you say with certainty that she does not feign pleasure? About the woman you mistreat, are you quite sure that from abuse she does not derive some obscure and lascivious satisfaction? Let us confine ourselves to simple evidence: through thoughtfulness, gentleness, concern for the feelings of others we saddle our own pleasure with restrictions, and make this sacrifice to obtain a doubtful result." -The Divine Marquis

AMERICA FUCK YEAH!!!!

Also CALIFORNIA FUCK YEAH! and our solution to solving our debt problem: Raise the vehicle registration costs, the same thing that got Gray Davis recalled.

Now I think I'll go watch something like Patton and blow crap up.

I went kayaking with my sister and brother in law
It was a lot of fun and put me in a much better mood
We tried to fish but didn't catch anything. The fish where jumping everywhere, a few almost even jumped in the kayak but the only bite I got broke the line.

About an hour ago I went to watch some fireworks at the dock in our neighborhood but it started to rain once I go there. Didn't get to see any fireworks so I guess I'm going to just watch some anime or play some STALKER (C.O.P). May even sit on the porch with my Ipod watching the lightning.
