If there's anything on any Geocities site that might be useful to archive, it needs to be done at some point before the end of the year, when Geocities goes bye-bye forever.

Archive.org has stuff up to about 4 years ago, going by the archives of my site. The only problem is that archive.org itself is not indexed.

Eva Sage.

And, AFAIK, that one shitty fan-site that propagated the "it's the real Lance of Longinus that just somehow got really big" claim. It might have been on Geocities. Other than that, I can't remember anything.

Ah, memories. I think I had a Geocities site at some point. The posters in this thread are really going to be showing their age.

Also, inner sanctum?

Since that one uses a Java menu for navigation, it won't have been crawled, and will need manual porting.

I started my site there when it was still called GeoPages...

Also moved to a where a wider audience can see.

I think everyone had a geocities page at one point.

Didn't want this to fade into the woodwork of off-topic.

ah yes, the nostalgia, all those crappy pages with MIDI music playing and the crude "animation"

it's unfortunate, but IMO it was inevitable, considering Yahoo's boneheaded moves since the early 2000's

http://www.ravnaandtines.com/eva/evasage.zip -- omits the pages of web-ring links and the separately available scripts and RCB scans.

The RPG material is at http://web.archive.org/web/20030416165540/http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Field/5701/index.html

The Gnosis & Revelations fic does not appear to be archived at all, apart from the cover page, even though it was linked via
http://web.archive.org/web/20050204074933/http://www.geocities.com/seele_hq/Archive/index.htm

This should make some people happy -- http://web.archive.org/web/20050326211810/http://www.geocities.com/nge_toili/ as should this http://web.archive.org/web/20020207130533/http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Garden/4989/index.html

Multiple archiving projects have scavenged the sites.

You know, I really didn't think it was going to be so bad.... but this really is a catastrophic loss for the whole internet.

It seems that the Japanese Geocities (.co.jp) has survived, at least for the time being -- taking a semi-random page linked elsewhere on the forums as a canary (http://www.geocities.co.jp/HeartLand/8819/webjpcol.html).

Hey, someone had the balls to archive much of Geocities -- it's called Reocities: http://www.reocities.com/

With the URL of the dormant Geocities site, you simply swap the 'G' with the 'R' in Geocities, and you might acquire an archived page.

However, there's a snag -- not all sites have been archived, so the Reocities archivist is requesting others to contribute some material to complete the archive.

The entirety of GeoCities is going to be available as a torrent:

Just under a terabyte.

Depending on who plans on buying or what people like, it seems like a waste of a massive amount of memory to me. just IMO.
