The second: stuff on the image makes reference to Angel-XX, but ... yeah, I have no idea. If you could provide "more source" than just a hotlink URL, that could possibly help.

I remember reading about that SOMEWHERE hearing that it's either a weekly or monthly Eva magazine OR newspaper of sorts. It was either on the Evastore site or ANN.

Sorry for not having the exact source on hand; I once stumbled across it then forgot where the hell I read it.

This stuff gets around the Japanosphere fast. For starters, check out the official site's blog, Minna no Eva Fan, Mycom Journal, and (presumably) Eva Kinkyuu News. (Links for all of these available through our own news feed.) And there's the whole

So I was searching Evastore the other day and found nothing about this. _ Rather annoying because I know I stumbled across this somewhere.... Oh well. I'll just wait to hear more news about this thing.

Now that you mention it -- they're panels from a storyboard. (The rest of the sheet is evident on the edges.) I wouldn't assume that it's the same thing that's in the manga, though.

Haha, maybe Shinji and Rei have the tea scene and it's their big emotional moment. And then Rei takes a cup of tea to Gendo and he's all "No Rei. You know I only drink the tears of crying children"

I think those are tears of physical strain, rather then emotional turmoil. He is looking upwards, is visibly in bodily effort, and the purplish hue... i think holding up Sahaq is just demanding of both him and his Eva.

The only other scene that i can think of where he would get teary eyed inside his Eva with that kind of facial expression is the Zeruel battle (i think i have argued somewhere that the image is actually from the Zer engagement), but now that i think about it, Shinji was wearing his school uniform when going up against Zer. And why would they change that? It was such a great way of pointing out that returning to pilot was a decision made by Shinji, the boy, not an order carried out by the pilot of Eva-01 (God, i'm rambling).

Gendo drinking tears fresh out of the eyes of multiple children while they are still shedding them is quite the image. Someone with actual drawing skills should immortalize it.
