Re: Official Pokémon Thread
New Sun/Moon news! Cover art, release date, and starter pokemon!
http://gematsu.com/2016/05/pokemon-sun- ... -23-europe
The games launch November 18th in North America and November 23 in Europe. I absolutely love the cover art for Sun (that lion-thing looks badass), and I'll be choosing Litten as my starter (flaming hairballs, man!)

Re: Official Pokémon Thread
I like the way these starters look, and I can picture how badass each of them will become once they evolve. I think I need to get myself a 3DS.
Re: Official Pokémon Thread
I am disappointed:
-Graphics look barely tweaked, very weak update considering this is a generation change
-Starters are boring, to me anyways
-Legendaries are also boring, a lion and a bat.. just like a deer and a bird for XY (I miss the cool things like Dialga, Requaza, or Lugia - normal animals are boring to me)
Next thing is for the elite four to be 4 pokemon each with the highest level being below your lowest level... and I am officially not on board for these games. FF XV and P5 are my fall RPGs

Re: Official Pokémon Thread
I'm personally psyched about the starters--especially Rowlet. It's probably the single cutest Pokemon I've seen in a long time. And as for Legendaries being "normal animals", we had that all the way back in Generation 1.
Life can seem a challenge. Life can seem impossible. It's never easy when so much is on the line.

I love the owl more than myself.
Those three are the weirdly most inconsistent starters I've seen from Pokemon. The Owl is an instant classic, while the sea lion feels kinda wrong. The salamander might be a grower, though.

It seems odd to me that the owl pokemon is the only one with a dual type, being grass/flying. I guess grass is one of the most disadvantaged types, especially next to fire and water, so it makes sense it that respect. It's a good combo too.
I'm still fond of the sea lion. Something tells me it's going to grow huge with tusks and claws, like a walrus.

What salamander? The fire-typestarter is a cat.

Re: Official Pokémon Thread
I kinda wish they'd change the types of the starter pokemon from game to game. Like maybe in one game have a dark type, a steel type, and a psychic type to choose from. Then in the next game offer an ice type, a fairy type, and a ghost type. The fire/water/grass starter trio is the only thing about the series that's getting stale, and I feel like it limits the design team in terms of how the starters look.

If it turns into something like Walrein I'll be very happy. Hey, it could happen. In B/W, Oshawott evolved into the badass Samurott eventually.

Whoopsie. I was truly blinded by the owls cuteplosion. At closer inspection, Litter's cute as well.

The reason the Grass/Water/Fire designs are always kept is because those three types are the only ones that form a perfectly balanced triangle of strengths and weaknesses. Other types also balance each other (a Fighting/Dark/Psychic starter trio in particular has been suggested several times) but instead of all being strong and weak to one another, they have immunities, which would give one of the trio a decided advantage.

Re: Official Pokémon Thread
^I never played X/Y, but the starters 3rd evolution make them dual type with the fighting/psychic/dark trio. It's pretty neat.

Re: Official Pokémon Thread
Huh. That didn't even occur to me, when my Frogadier evolved into a Water/Dark Greninja, and (in my other game) my Braixen evolved into a Fire/Psychic Delphox.

Re: Official Pokémon Thread
So from what I keep reading on different websites it seems like the entire region in this game is a tropical island chain, not just the first town. Could this... could this be the Orange Islands game I've been wanting them to do since I was twelve!? Awesome, I bet the new pokemon in this region are going to be interesting. Probably a lot more water and ice types than before. And from what I gather, the Sun legendary is named Solgaleo. Sounds pretty cool.
*Edit* Nevermind about the Orange Islands thing, the region is called Alola and seems to be based off of Hawaii. Still looks pretty cool.

More Pokemon Sun/Moon news coming June 2nd. Get hype. Hopefully they'll tell us how many new pokemon to expect, and reveal a third legendary.

Hilarious! But I do love the Eg and Dukburg evolution trees, though.

I'm picking Rowlet as my starter. It's shaped like a friend!
