Their is still hope for Shinji and asuke to be ok, we'll just never see anymore of them after EoE. But come on people the name of the scene is " I need you " for petes sake. Asuka and Shinji didn't warsh up on the same beech by chance people come on. On some level they were willing to give it another try or they wouldn't have come back at all. Though as the strangling bit proved they still have some work to do . :P

i have never seen a solid reason, from the show and films, why these two characters need to be together, other than the fact that Rei, as Shinji's mom, is now out of the running. Does Shinji ever *do* anything for Asuka, or vice versa? Does he make her laugh, make her happy, or fulfill her in any way that would normally be the basis for a human relationship?

maybe this is just my own interpretation, but it seems that Asuka and Shinji will eventually grow up and find other people.

Shinji makes Asuka smile in the valcono diver ep, and in the one were they meat on the over the rainbow. In dance like you want to win they do have a talk while eating thouse sandwiches after Asuka runs out on training. That could be seen as her opening up to him a little.

Shinji does ask Misato about Asuka ( I for get the ep) so I guss that counts as intrest.

Does this mean their ment for one another, nope.

In all honesty, I don't think a single living creature deserves to be with a harpy like Asuka. That's just too cruel a fate. All I'm really advocating for is the fact that, in the show, Asuka and Shinji need each other. (Despite your cynical rebuttals, Tines-san. :P ) And if that's what the two of them want, who I am to argue...

You bet it is. But, come on -- it's repetitive and stupid. There are a couple different formulas and they are reused ad nauseum. They capitalize on the sexual humiliation of women. It's base, vulgar stuff that almost always assumes its audience's entire blood supply is directed into the 'other' head -- i.e., hentai almost never displays any signs of wit, intelligence, self-irony, or class.

Only reason I bother with it is because on rare occasions, it actually is funny or otherwise manages to redeem itself. Then, I suppose the things I seek are somewhat different from lonely otaku who need cum-covered cartoon girls to wank over.
