Seriously! The english voice actor for Rorschach is just terrible! Does he have a perpetually sore throat, or something? Has he smoked too many cigarettes in his lifetime? And the guy who did Dan Dreiberg; man, I wanna punch him in the face, he's just so damned whiny!

I saw the film last night with my friends. It was awesome. About as good a job as they could do to translating the novel to motion picture format. Sure, they left stuff out and changed some stuff, but I didn't really mind. I also thought they made some great choices in their casting; Rorschach and the Comedian are nearly perfect fits. The only thing I really had a problem with was the emphasis on the violence and sex scenes that wasn't really that emphasized in the comics, although I only really took issue with that in one or two instances.

Of all the naysayers opinions' that I have read today, I have this to say: *shrug* I vastly disagree with the majority of them. Anyhoo...

Did I hear correctly that there's shots of Dr. Manhattan's giant blue schlong?

The movie was awesome and I enjoy it a lot. Didn't like the new ending at all. The ZOMG SPOILERS FOLLOW emotional impact of seeing half of New York City decimated was dramatically decreased since I thought the Squid was cooler and more brutal.

Someone on the Doctor Who Forum referred to this as his "nuclear todger," at which point we all realized that this would be a good name for a heavy metal band or something.

Of course there would be no way in hell a "Rule 63" version would have been as explicit either in print or on the big screen.

I liked it. I summed it up to my wife (who did not go with me to see it due to needs involving rest): Great movie. I would not recommend it to everyone, though.

And that's just because I know how some people would react. It's a bit verbose in places, and there's a certain scene where Dr. Manhattan rather abruptly changes his mind about something which left me wondering if I'd missed something. There's a sex scene which I felt was pretty indulgent... but THANKFULLY, it's nowhere near approaching the inappropriate-ness and self-indulgence of an impromptu dance scene/sex session between Neo and Trinity in the Matrix Reloaded... ugh, I hate that scene.

If they'd "trimmed the fat" a bit, say by 15 or so minutes, I'd give it a full 5 stars, but as it stands it's a solid 4 star film.

They proved Terry Gilliam wrong on this one. I think Watchmen fans cannot ask for a better adaptation. Jackie Earl Haley is perfect as Rorschach, his voice seemed a too husky at first but i quickly got used to it. He really gave me the creeps. And his lines are my favorite ones from the movie: "Never compromise! Not even in the face of armageddon!"; "None of you understand! I'm not locked in here with you, you're locked in here with ME!"

Jackie Earl Haley was awesome and should get a oscar. Spoiler....I think Rorschach death in the movie was better then it was in the comic. His Death seem to have a bigger impact then it in the GN.

Pretty good except for the ending. I wish it was more in depth, but you cannot get everything in an adaptation.

I enjoyed it.

It was the sort of thing that looks faithful on the surface, but the more you think about it, the more the cracks start to show, especially re: what they left out.

Still, it holds. And I liked the reconcieved ending.

And people are making FAR too big a deal about seen Dr. Manhattan's wang.

Maybe this will put things in perspective for you?
