The other Reno!? Where is the other one?! The world needs more scrawny guys in blue suits with red ponytails and electro-rods, who end all of their sentences in "zo, to"!

Although I should point out that the name of this "Reno" rhymes with "Jay Leno" and not "bambino".

Reno "Hah hah! I got to be a bishie for 'Advent Children' and you didn't!"
Rude "..." :starts sobbing like a little baby:

Mmmmm, nipples...

Liquid gasoline is not explosive. Only the vapor and mist forms are.

I'd turn gay for Hayden Christensen.

(may take a long time to download, but very very worth it - and no, it's not gay porn or anything like that)

Is Evangelion flawed?

In essence, the notion exists that Evangelion is an extremely well thought out creation, without flaws or errors, and that what appears to be error is in actuality very intentional on the part of the production, with the primary sources presenting all the critical information necessary to explain the truth and reality of the series.

The dissenting opinion is that Evangelion, like any other creative work, is limited to the boundaries of the human mind, something that is intrinsically flawed, regardless of how few or many minds are put towards the process. While indeed a work of genius, Evangelion suffers from the same ills of any other creative works, such as continuity errors, bloopers, and production oversights.

Please avoid using this thread as a means of personal attack. You may state your opinion if you like, but please keep it as civil as possible to avoid possible action by moderators.

I think Evangelion is so flawed.
Sometimes, things have no meaning or point. it' s supposed to be psychologic or something they said. I stopped trying to figure things out. Now, I just think they say and do stuff to make us wonder and think , but those stuff really don' t have a big answers or meanings.
It' s like putting weird things everywhere to make it look like it' s really psychologic when it has no sense really. Just my opinion...

Was it really that hard to see why these people were screwed up? ^^;
There are other things that aren't nearly explained as much...

They should give explanations for the weird unexplicable things... Generally, in a series, all the mysteries are revealed and explained by the end of the serie... But in Evangelion, nothing' s explained...

Why in one of the movie (don' t remember which one, it' s been a long time) were there the real seiyuus who did the voices for Asuka, Rei and Misato? They were dressed as the character they lend their voice to. We could only see their back.
This is weird and really has no meaning...
There' re always lots of weird things coming up and out. And clearly they have no meaning at all.

Anyone could do that... For example I could draw something weird like an empty space and put a cat floating into space... and suppose it has a big signification, when clearly is not... To me, Evangelion is filled with those...

The three seiyuu were dressed as such in the real world to show a world where Shinji didn't exist.

That's not the kind of show Anno and the others were putting together, though. It was intentionally constructed as a puzzle that the viewer would have to work to figure out completely.

Eva is just from a different approach, and it's definitely not for everyone.

Anno wrote:Evangelion is like a puzzle, you know. Any person can see it and give his/her own
answer. In other words, we're offering viewers to think by themselves, so that each person can imagine his/her own world. We will never offer the answers, even in the theatrical version. As for many Evangelion viewers, they may expect us to provide the 'all-about Eva' manuals, but there is no such thing. Don't expect to get answers by someone. Don't expect to be catered to all
the time. We all have to find our own answers

The salient points are explained, though admittedly you have to wait for EoE to get told the nature of the Angels. Instrumentality/Complementation is explained pretty thoroughly in ep#25 (that it's flawed human beings attempting to transcend the human condition), so when we get a different slice thorugh it in EoE, it's obvious what's going on.

Not denying that there's a lot of depth of detail beyond that where you have to go back and piece the clues together.
