Subtitles suck ass, I want to focus on the film not words on the bottom of the screen.

Let's not do the dub/sub wars thing, guys.

I had 1.5 tabs of acid (that had a lot of heat exposure) and it wasn't too intense for me at all. I think if I had a stronger dose I'd probably would have had a harder time reading the subtitles. I think watching it on acid definitely enhanced the experience, but I'll just leave it at that.

Yeah I laughed a bit at that too. Mostly at Naoko Akagi's overreaction. I can understand slapping Rei I, but choking her? It was just so ridiculous.

Then you obviously didn't get her character at all. Assessed isolated, yes she overreacted. But Rei One's "old hag" was just the the last straw that broke the camel's back nourished by a lonely lifestyle and nourished by Gendou. To me this scene was very horrifying because it was extremely human in a peculiar way.

I obviously understand that she was very stressed and isolated, which led to a mental breakdown. The structure of the scene was the humorous part for me. One second she is acting normally with Gendo and Rei and then the next second a switch flips and she is choking Rei to death. It was a very sudden and startling reaction, which made me find it unintentionally funny. This whole thread is filled with people finding dark moments unintentionally funny, are you saying they didn't understand those scenes as well?

No, but this was one of the most shocking moments in the whole series for me, so I couldn't believe it. Sorry, I might have overreacted and jumped to conclusions, though.

Not the noise for me, but the extraordinary expression he had at the moment of detonation.

Now don't get me wrong. .. I think both the original ADV dub and the rebuild dub are good. But. . . I can't help but laugh at anything from the original ADV dub that has Spike Spencer screaming.

It's not that he's not trying, its just. . . he's trying too hard so it comes as hilarious and not at all empathetic. I feel like a horrible person for saying that, Cause Spike is a really cool guy and dare I say it a talented (if somewhat typecast) actor! But back then he can not make Shinji screaming sound convincing if his life depended on it.
I’ll escape now from this world, from the world of Jean Valjean, Jean Valjean is nothing now! Another story must begin!

That scene in End of Eva when Misato shoots that guy in the head and blood spatters all over the wall
making a odd sound effect.

There's actually more to it than that. Naoko's relationship with Gendo was haunted by the ghost of Yui, she knew he would never forget his dead wife and thus there was no chance for her to ever form an emotional connection with him, she was just being used to fulfill his desires. On top of that Gendo devoted a lot of his attention, something Naoko desperatley craved, to Rei, a clone of Yui. That's why being called an old hag by Rei had such an effect on Naoko, she wasn't simply being insulted by a kid, she was being ridiculed by her romantic rival from beyond the grave. After trying to win Gendo's affection for god knows how long and still losing to a woman that isn't even alive anymore and even came back in child form to humiliate her she just snapped.

Now, on topic: The smiling theater seats in the beginning of EoE's live action sequence get me every time.

Did Naoko even knew that Rei was a clone?

I'm not 100% sure but I think she did, Ritsuko knew and she pretty much succeeded her mother in every role she had at Nerv (including sleeping with the Commander).
It's likely she had something to do with the cloning too, being Nerv's top scientist and all.

For me when Giant Naked Reis hand passes through Maya's body and she freaks out that makes me chuckle for some reason. Just the way she reacts is so funny.

And the scene where Shinji tries to decide if he should kill his bestest best friend.
