Yup. Bochan_Bird, fan translator of the Eva manga, posted to the Evangelion Mailing List that there will be a new stage in this month's installment of Shonen Ace.

So after a year long break, Volume 10 is underway. Bad news is that this still means we won't get volume 10 for another year. :cry:

Wait, what if Sadamoto doesn't do one each month. What if he does like three or four then waits another year to do some more, then we don't get vol. 10 for a year and a half, unless there are some stages already out. (I don't know)

Is there any place that provides scanalations for the mangas? I've been looking at places, but most are not up to date.

Highly unlikely, considering the fact that I've looked on more than one occasion. The problem with the Eva manga is that its distribution is so erratic (with multiple gaps of upwards of a year) most scanlators would get tired of it.

Not to mention its a licensed series. Most fan sub/scanlators are pretty good about discontinuing licensed series.

The best you can do when it comes to the Eva manga is read the fan translations that Bochan_Bird does. And unlike scanlations, they're small text files, and he whips them out a day or two after the stage is published.

I posted a link in this topic with an archive of the last two volumes worth of stages. If you're that desperate to know what happens, read them. Otherwise go out and actually buy it.

I'm disappointed. I've long thought that Rei's spiritual encounter with Armisael (the Inner Universe scene) was sourly underdone, and it's a pity Sadamoto didn't expand it in the ways he could have. Instead, he has an Armi-tentacle going into EVA-00's left butt cheek...

Personally, I've always felt that that scene was directed perfectly. Please elaborate on your disappointment.

I just think so much more could have been done or explored, rather than the two of them just having a brief dialogue about loneliness. I mean, seriously, if you become psychically connected to a sentient lifeform like an Angel, don't you think that an Angel and a human (or whatever the hell you want to consider Rei ) would have so much more to talk about? And the "me inside Eva" (aka Rei 1) doesn't even get involved, which always struck me as being awfully weird, considering the dialogue occurs inside the Eva's core...

Sure they could of added more, that can be said for just about any scene ever. I love that scene, probably one of my favorites in any show. No need to butcher it by adding unesessary information. Remember, with Rei, less is more.

If nothing else, I'm disappointed that, so far, Sadamoto has neglected to work in Naoko's little fit ("Die, bitch, die!") DESPITE having referenced it directly! Since it was missing from volume 8, someone speculated that Sadamoto would be expanding the scene with Armisael to include it and various other Rei bits he's neglected so far -- but, alas, to no avail...

On an aside, did anyone else notice that Sadamoto stuck to the original version of #22 with his depiction of the end scenes involving the Spear? (No Lilith regenerating, no Spear "powering up" to penetrate Arael's ATF.)

I suppose there's still time for him to jump back and forth in the story. You don't need to stick to a rigid chonological storytelling method with something like NGE, and in fact, would probably detract from the story, if you did. I'm hoping, anyway, because Rei's parts (no pun intended are often the most interesting.

I really don't know what's going on with the manga. It's hardly dissapointing in absolute terms, but at the same time, it doesn't seem to be all that it could have been.

Well, think about it... Did Lilith regenerating when the Spear was pulled out and the Spear transforming to "power up" really add anything? The first just creates more questions that are never answered (re: the properties of the Spear). Lilith could just have easily regenerated herself when she received Rei+Adam. The second is just there to look cool and doesn't seem to have any point whatsoever; if it had been followed up by something in EoE, maybe it would have been worthwhile.

Well, think about it... Did Lilith regenerating when the Spear was pulled out and the Spear transforming to "power up" really add anything? The first just creates more questions that are never answered (re: the properties of the Spear). Lilith could just have easily regenerated herself when she received Rei+Adam. The second is just there to look cool and doesn't seem to have any point whatsoever; if it had been followed up by something in EoE, maybe it would have been worthwhile.

Indeed, no.

In particular, the latter seemed quite out of place as pure fluff, when placed alongside the rest of the new DC material, that could otherwise be quite neatly categorised as either

1) Revealing more of what the heck was actually going on, or
2) Retconning the nature of the Asuka/Shinji relationship
