As for the question "Why not Jennifer Connelly as Misato?", well, her chest has seriously deflated from her glory years of "The Rocketeer" etc

This is not 2002. Jennifer Connelly has gained all her weight back since then, and her chest is as big as ever. She was only anorexic looking for a few months around the time she won the oscar, and that was aroung the same time Hulk was being filmed, which is why she didn't look so great in that movie.

Don't believe me? Watch her most recent movie, "House of Sand and Fog". Not the most glamorous role for Jennifer, but it does prove my point.

personally, I think she looked best in "Dark City".

They do in the concept art, why wouldn’t they have mouths?

I dunno if you noticed or not, but the Evas ALWAYS had mouths. You see both EVA-01 and EVA-02's quite well in the show, and you can catch EVA-03's flying jawbone when Yui-sama bashes her head.

As far as casting go, would it be a good thing or a bad thing to have the guy who plays Red on "That 70's Show" play Gendo's part?

Bad.

Although it would be a cool parody thing. Imagine Gendou repeatedly calling Shinji a dumb@$$!

lol

There is only one person in the world that could adequately play Gendo, and that person is me. Regardless of age or ethnicity, its about having the soul (Or lack there of) of Gendo that matters above all else.

I like Alan Rickman, but when I think of him "Gendou" is not exactly the first thing to come to mind.

He sucks and should not even be remotely considered for the Gendou role.

Forget just getting Red to play Gendo, just cast all of That 70's Show to play the Eva crew.

Red-Gendo (Shinji...you DUMBASS!)
Eric-Shinji (same character anyway)
Jackie-Asuka (once again, same damn character)
Donna-Rei (OK, I'm kinda reaching for this one...)
Kelso-Kensukei(sp?) (You can already see it, can't you?)
Hyde-Toji (If anyone could pull off the "I don't want to be doing this" it's him)

While this would be funny as hell, I think "true Eva fans " would avoid this movie the same way the real D&D fans made "D&D The Movie" one of the biggest box office flops in recent memory.

I think he would work rather well in the role. He looks the age-range, has great experience playing villain-type characters, and has down 'The Stare'.

The problem is, Alan Rickman can only play stereotypical one-dimensional villians and that's something that Gendou is definately not. There is no true "villian" in EVA, that's one of the many important things that seperates it from crap like G.I. Joe.

Now Cobra Commander, there's a cliche baddie perfect for Alan Rickman.

Gendo's character may have been well-fleshed out, but as far as actually displaying emotions goes he's as wooden as Ashton Kutcher. I think Gendou changes his expression about...2 times outside of the flashback sequence. Hell, 60% of the part is just looking menacingly over your glasses.
