[LAEM] Could this be something?

Filmmaker Jieho Lee told SCI FI Wire that his next project is a live-action version of a popular Japanese anime.

"I forgot that I'm not supposed to talk about it, not even to let you know about it," Lee said during interviews for his upcoming urban fable The Air I Breathe. Lee would not confirm further details about the project.

I wouldn't get your hopes up. He's probably just talking about the live action Yakitate!! Japan. They're keeping it pretty hush hush.

Or maybe its Battle Angel Alita, or something like that...

He hasn't done much, but The Air I Breathe is out-and-out allegory, with A-list actors. Seems like he could be a good choice for an Eva movie.

But it'll probably end up being Pokemon live-action or something.

BATTLE ANGEL IS BEING DIRECTED BY JAMES CAMERON. WE ALREADY KNOW THAT FOR CERTAIN. Why would you want to settle for anyone less than James Cameron?

In terms of NGE, Jieho Lee is not an "A-list director" like ADV claims they're getting. Considering the other live action films coming out in the United States based on anime some time in the near future, it is probably either Astro Boy, Ikki Tousen, Dragon Ball Z, Monster or Voltron. If it's something other than those five or NGE, we're just going to be way oversaturated with anime films in the upcoming years.

I'm hoping for the Wachowski Brothers. Say what you will of some of their work, at least they wouldn't go all Hollywood/Spielberg on us with a watered-down happy version of this dark bold story.

I'm guessing the Wachowski brothers would be dying to do NGE. It pulls off successfully all the pseudoreligious symbolism that The Matrix tried so hard to emulate.

The Wachowski Brothers are one trick ponies.

They may be technically proficient but they lack the ability to make compelling dialogue/characters/ or even shoot a film interestingly.

BOUND is their best film and THE MATRIX was a case of magic in a bottle.

Besides, any live action version of Eva is going to Hollywood up the ending.

Anywho, I'm certain its not a Shitty Live Action Eva. I'm sure with Rebuild being done they don't want any other Eva films to detract from their attention.

Plus LIve Action Eva will suck. Regardless.
