While reading the back of Eva manga volume 8, i learned that there is an RPG that tells of two more angels and a sixth child. I believe the angels where named Iblis and Baraqijal. I know they probably never existed in the eva universe and where probably created just to sell the rpg. Does anyone own this RPG? Was it licensed by Gainax? Did it have pictures of the new angels and the sixth child, and if so can someone tell me if i can find them on the internet?

There is a Japanese Eva RPG book, he's not referring to GOS.

I've never managed to find any imagery from the book on the internet.

As the article you read states, it is licensed by Gainax.

The book does have character and angel cards, so undoubtadly includes the new character and angels, just like similar games with original characters, such as Girlfriend of Steel and Second Impression.

If you want to know more than that, I suggest you buy yourself a copy. I don't have a copy myself.

Take a look at this thread, someone may have commented upon it, or own it.

No its not Girlfriend of steel. Mana wasn't selected to be sixth child and there where no angels in that game just robots.

Its a good thing I typed this up the other day. Here's the relevent portion of "Eight Books of Evangelion", from the Viz Edition of Volume 8 of the Evangelion manga.

NEON GENESIS
EVANGELION RPG
DESIGNED BY ORG - 1900 YEN - ISBN4-04-714513-0
ABOUT 7 1/4" BY 10" - 158 PAGES (20 IN FULL COLOR)

No box with white and red 20-sided percentile dice inside, regretfully--but you do get the whole thing in one book. The Evangelion Role-Playing Game (for who, in these troubled times, wouldn't enjoy pretending they were experiencing the Eva characters' carefree lives instead?) is used with 71 colored cards--bound in on tear-out sheets--representing events, locations, combats, characters, the Eva Units, and the Angels. Note two new Angels are introduced in the Eva RPG, Iblis and Baraqijal.

Iblis, by the way, is an important figure in the Qu'ran. In the Muslim telling of the story of the Garden of Eden, Iblis was the one Angel who refused to bow down before the newly-created Man, when ordered to do so by God. It was then Iblis who then tempted Adam, saing in Al-Araf (The Heights) 7:21, "Your Lord has only forbidden you this tree, lest you should become angels or such beings as live forever".

The Eva RPG includes an introductory scenario, "The Dead Sea Scrolls," and the arrival of the new Eva pilot from America, Maria Vincennes! Those of you who know about the naval references in Eva character names will not be surprised to hear the AEGIS cruiser U.S.S. Vincennes is itself based out of the American naval base at Yokosuka, Japan (suspiciously, the Vincennes is itself named for the original ship of that name, whose commander, Charles Wilkes, led the first U.S. expedition to Antarctica...). The Eva RPG also contains a certain amount of sourcebook material for the series, such as an organizational chart of NERV, the post-Second Impact shoreline changes in Eastern Japan, and a map of event locations in the greater Tokyo-3 area.

I have the book. I'll scan some stuff for you later, once I get it unpacked.

I suppose the q could be a hard "k" sound and the "j" pronounced like a "y".

How about we not pretend like we know how to pronounce words from languages we know nothing about?

Arabic. To my best knowledge from doing a bit of looking, the "q" is indeed a hard "k" sound and the "j" is pronounced as a "y". So Reichu was right.

Anyways...scans are definitely needed. Ever since I read the back of Vol.08, I'd been dying to know what Iblis looked like. Baraqijal as well, but less so: Iblis is the more important Angel, IMO, and has a kewler history. Image

Wasn't pretending, hence the presence of a question mark.

Baraqijal is from the book of jubilees and is a hebrew name thus proving that the k in it is indeed a very hard k. Try barakkkkkkijal. Image (no offense to any jews out there.) Image

I wasn't pretending, man. It was actually an educated guess. Too bad our buddies Greenfield and McCoy can't say the same. (Seishiel -- the angel of sperm!)

The new Angels really aren't that interesting -- just hacks of preexisting ones. Well.... you'll see when I stop being lazy.

I read that Baraqijal is the angel of lightning or lightning of god and Iblis must be the... um... angel of.. satan... thats who he eventually anyway

What do you mean by "hacks of pre-existing ones" Reichu?

They're like the Ninjas in Mortal Kombat. All you gotta do to create a new one is to change the color scheme.

Eww, recolors? How... how icky. Designing new ones (or severely tweaking various details) works out a lot better. Guess they're just lazy. Image

Speaking of making "new" Angels...
