Well my favorite anime is Haibane Renmei to begin with. Eva is part of an amorphous top 5 though.

Lately I've been really into Legend of Korra. My wife and I started rewatching Last Airbender to plug the gaps between new episodes.

In the past I've been really into Alias, Lost, Heroes, Stargate SG-1, Battlestar, Sarah Connor Chronicles, Walking Dead, The Newsroom, Breaking Bad, and Firefly. Firefly is pretty high up on the list. Such a good show.

It is a tie between Serial Experiments: Lain and Mawaru Penguindrum.

As for live-action, it would have to be either Oz (from which I originally took my online nickname) or The Sopranos. Other series that I have actually finished (Lost, Battlestar Galactica) have turned out to be disappointment to some degree.
"I'd really like to have as much money as you have, Oz" - robersora
"No you wouldn't. Oz's secret is he goes without food to buy that stuff. He hasn't eaten in years." - Brikhaus

"Often I get the feeling that deep down, your little girl is struggling with your embrace of filmfaggotry and your loldeep fixations, and the conflict that arises from such a contradiction is embodied pretty well in Kureha's character. But obviously it's not any sort of internal conflict that makes the analogy work. It's the pigtails." - Merridian
"Oh, Oz, I fear I'm losing my filmfag to the depths of Japanese pop. If only there were more films with Japanese girls in glow-in-the-dark costumes you'd be the David Bordwell of that genre." - Jimbo
"Oz, I think we need to stage an intervention and force you to watch some movies that aren't made in Japan." - Trajan

What i can think of right now is K-On!, Kill la Kill, and Nadia: The secret of Blue Water.

Sometimes i even think i might like Nadia more than Eva.

Let's see, first we have Sailor Moon, the one anime that started it all. I did find some of the evil characters kind of crazy, when I initially watched the show about 20 years ago, but nowadays I know - that's just Japan. Next up, we have Pokémon, though basically only the first season, which sure is one of best. I only got into Inuyasha about one a half years ago. I like it quite much, but my sister really loves it. Aside from this, I also did enjoy Ghost in the Shell. Well, I wasn't that much impressed by the original movie back then, but the 'Stand Alone Complex' series ultimately did make me a fan of Motoko Kusanagi and her crew. And just about a month ago, I watched Girls & Panzer. Initially met the characters at Amlux Toyota Auto Salon in Ikebukuro one a half years ago and remembered about the show in October this year, when I went to Japan.

My list pretty much is
1. Evangelion
2.Code Geass
3.Cowboy Bebop
4.Trigun
5.FMA(Original)
6.DBZ
7.Black Lagoon
8.Berserk
9.FMAB
10.Hellsing Ultimate

I still have a lot to watch so i will change it up eventually. Bebop and Trigun are about a tie for, bc i find Trigun had better in between episodes than bebop and the comedy was way better balanced in trigun. But Bebop had probably the greatest ending to a anime ever, better animation, and better music. For FMA i like the original better because the of the music, the ending, and characters. The new characters from FMAB sucked and i didn't really care for them. Also the ending for FMAB was way too happily ever after for me. I love the original FMA ending, but coulda did without CoS honestly. DBZ for nostalgia reasons absoulety.

My favorite's are:
1. Neon genesis Evangelion
2. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
3. Code Geass
4. Valvrave the Liberator

After that it's kind of hard for me to make a concrete list. I love mechas (obviously, since all 4 of my favorite's are mechas). I really like Dragon Ball, but I'm a bigger fan of the manga. I like Yu-Gi-Oh (although anything made from ZEXAL onwards is terrible). Angel Beats is really good. Even though it's a really bad anime, I still enjoy watching SAO. I could go on, but I think I'll leave it at that.

Without a doubt it's the ninth Crayon Shin-Chan film called "The Adult Empire Strikes Back." I know it may seem odd how not only a long running children's anime but let alone it's ninth feature film could be that impactful but trust me it's amazing. The film really beautifully examines the family dynamic and even just growing up. Also, what's beautiful about this film is that it's truly heart warming messages can be viewed and enjoyed by people of all ages. To be honest I respect children's media that can be enjoyed by all ages a lot more than media that while excellent is only for one group of people. I really don't want to delve into it too much for spoiler-y reasons but the animation is excellent, you may have the designs but I think it's pretty obvious the animation itself is great, the jokes are funny and the characters are all great.

This anime is so over the top and I love it so much. One thing I never did warm up to was the animation style. Good list though.
Amarantos - an NGE AU, beginning with Asuka, Shinji, and a garden. Take a look. Couldn't hurt.
