This is just something I want to be true, but...

New York Anime Festival's guest of honor is Kobun Shizuno, who is the co-director of Weva 1.0.

Also, there will be a special , currently secret screening screening at the ImaginAsian.

For all the details on this still top secret screening, check back closer to the New York Anime Festival. This screening is an event you don't want to miss!

Maybe I'm reading too much into to this, maybe I just want to believe, hope against hope, but maybe, just maybe it's really happening?
We know that English subtitles were made for the movie...

"In all cases, eventually it becomes necessary to decide to 'deliberately betray the fans.'" - Yoji Enokido
I believe in the director of Eva 1.11.

Well, if they're screening it at the NYAF, I'll go.

Well, I can't think of anything out right now in Japan that might be hot.

Pokemon Movie 10?

Oh, Hero might be, but odds are looking in Evangelion's favor. I just wish they had stuff like this in Australia. Maybe we are closer to a DVD release then we think.

Paprika was screened at the NY Film Festival October 2006, and in theatres in NYC and LA this May, but there hasn't been an R1 DVD release of it yet (actually, just checked, release date of DVD is 11/27). So it took over a year after it was screened in the States. Let's hope it doesn't take Rebuild that long.

NY is a bit far for me to go for only a movie, pitty. Hopefully they will take the screening on the road and hit other markets.

Most likely, they won't take it elsewhere.
If it's even screening there.

We-ell... I can't think of any other huge anime event from recent times... Now, would it be subtitled at this event?

I would assume so, there were English subtitles for the Korean showing, I doubt they'd show it in just Japanese at the American showing (assuming there is one).

It's not really a question of getting to New York for me; I have family members who go there regularly. In fact, my grandmother's there right now. It's a question of if December 8th will work.

And, of course, there's the question of if this really is the movie in question. I'm about 80% sure it is, though, what with it being the biggest anime release recently and the first guest of honor listed being the co-director.

I had posted a while back that Kobun Shizuno is going to be a guest at NYAF, but never thought of a possibility that they'd be screening the movie there. It was announced at ANN when I happened to be lurking around.

Hey, it's New York. I bet there will be bootlegs on the street before the movie even runs.

I am an hour's travel (give or take) from NYC: how do we get tickets for this event? (if it is indeed Eva)

If they confirm it, then I'm making a road trip... Just my luck, you'll probably have to have one those stupid-expensive gold tickets to get in.

*sigh* It's a shame Fall Quarter will be wrapping up then or else maybe I could do my long overdue visit back to the Mothership then. Then again, are we even certain this WOULD be Webuild?

I'm not certain. I'm putting forth a theory based on available evidence. I could be dead wrong. But this is what I hope, and this is what makes sense to me.
