Here's a good look at the relative height of some of the characters in EVA (together with some from Gunbuster):
Image

Shinji: Height approx. 4' 9"

Rei: Height approx. 4' 7"

Asuka: Height approx. 4' 10"

Gendou: Height approx. 5' 7-8"

Misato: Height approx. 5' 3"

This pic would seem to be consistent with the figures given, i.e. Asuka looks about an inch taller than Shinji, and Misato about six inches taller...

I just have to say that, how do you know if those are even close? I mean, we already knew the character heights in relation to each other, but until we know the height of at lest one character for sure it is all a wild guess.

Not to say that those numbers don't look correct, its just that it is still a guess. I would say the margin of error is about plus or minus up to 5 inches. And that is a lot.

Look at hikari in that picture, she looks taller than Toji.

I don't think those pictures are in proportion to what it would look like in real life. Look at Rei in proportion to Gendo, if she is 4'7", and he is 5'8", she would stand about 1 to 2 inches under the base of his chin, not below his breast.

I guess anime proportions just don't translate well into actually proportions.

But thats still a cool picture Image

The numbers came from here, (from MDWigs' post in the 'AN Evangelion Master' thread). I think they're official...

btw, they're all a bunch of midgets; I'm 6'3", my head would be off the top of that pic...

Why didn't they include Fuyutski?! As I recall he's pretty tall.

Funny, I always Imagined Gendo as 5'8"

and IMO Maya (that is Maya right?) is too tall in that pic, she's taller than Ritsuko in the pic, and I don't think she was in the series.

This pic is from a silly game that pits the casts of EVA, Gunbuster, and Nadia against each other; I used have a link to page that described the game, but I can't find it just now... Anyway, Fuyutsuki isn't in the pic cuz he wasn't in the game.

That picture is also oriented improperly for this topic. That's why some people who should be shorter look taller.

In the earlier thread where the characters heights were discussed, MDWigs posted a list from an animator's guide, listing the character from tallest (Gendo) to shortest (Rei). Fuyutsuki was next tallest after Gendo, followed by Kaji...
