I feel the name of the sections, in particular the wiki section, will have to be in some way related to the show. It has to be something familiar to someone who has been through one sitting of the show. If we are going to avoid names that include "Wiki" or "Evangelion" in the title, then we need some other way to let people know this is an Evangelion information site.

Again, I'd suggest something like "The Entry Plug" for the wiki section of the site. Simply a name in isolation, no themes or links to the other sections. I think it's a simple name that is instantly recognisable to anyone who has watched the show. It also serves to designate the first point of entry into the site. Most people will come across the wiki during their search for Evangelion information.

Here's some suggestions for all the other sections. The names are vaguely inspired by various concepts from the show, but overall, can simply be taken as an alias for that section, in isolation from the others.

--> Commentary : S2, Core
--> Forum : Classroom 2A, Human Instumentality Committee
--> "Encyclopedia" : The Entry Plug, A10
--> Theory & Analysis : Central Dogma(this is appropriate)
--> Geeky Guides : Dead/Geek Sea Scrolls, The Dummy Plug
--> Random Resources (includes translations) : Oral Stage
--> Total Chaos : Destrudo

Is this along the lines of what you wanted?

Tres bien, magnifique!

A couple of add-on suggestions-
Commentary- Magi
Forum- Seele (The whole of it, not just the committee)
"Encyclopedia"-Terminal Dogma
Theory and Analysis-The Bridge

I am so mule-like about my thought processes here that I require the input of four other council members before yielding a millimeter. YARGH! (Also, not entirely sure what Ornette's collective stance is.)

I'm easy, I'm happy with Evapedia, even if you don't email that guy who owns the domain. Fancy names for the sections is fine, too, but I prefer something descriptive and to-the-point.

*Evangelion Encyclopedia

***"EvaPedia"

*"Fourth Impact"

These I support.

We will be using this name for what is basically the next "TheOneRing.net" through the proposed live action Eva film series; we'll use it for like 5-10 years. It's worth buying the domain name from whoever currently has it, NOW, while Evangelion is at its lowest ebb, right before Rebuild hits it big and starts the buzz again. THe time to act is now.

Oh, you guys were actually thinking of buying the domain? Currently all the U.S. evapedia.<whatever> domains are available

Why would the encyclopedia subsection of the site have ia separate domain?

I think he means the domain of this site being renamed from evacommentary.org. Different sections having different website names is doable, but likely totally unneccessary. What's the name of the site to be? evaproject.org? Or do we stick with evacommentary? I'm rather fond of the current byname.

What's so bad about just calling the Wiki "The NGE Fan-Geeks Commentary Project" as well, if it has to be given a name at all? :huh:

I mean, the Wiki is part of the Commentary Project; it's just meant to help things be clearer for any Eva n00bs and/or kornfused fans out there, amirite?

Oh and let me guess: Everytime you say "Wiki", Reichu has EMK kill a kitten?

No, every time someone says "Wiki" I assassinate a wikiholic in the middle of the night.

Philosophically, we're rejecting the rampant wiki-addiction from the wikipedia morons. It happens to use "MediaWiki" software, but other than that, rejects the whole "wiki" mindset.

Wait... Then why does the term "EvaWiki" show up so much in your documentation? ;)

EVERY TIME SOMEONE WRITES "EVAWIKI"... Rei EATS A BABY!!!

This is actually my first time using Wikimedia software, so I wouldn't know anything about Wikiholics and the like. (I may read things on the unreliable Leaky just for shits and giggles, but that's it.)

@ Reichu: *Gasp!* And here I was thinking Rei was a vegetarian! Speaking of which... *adds useless trivia to Rei's page*

Though in terms of addicting, I must say working on these pages are actually quite fun, though a lot of work (it took me more than an hour just to work on the Episode 25' page yesterday!). And last night, I found myself thinking about this while I was trying to sleep! -o-; (I guess that means I have to limit my usage of this??)

I think in wiki-code.

I'm going to be making some ... technical changes to the Mediawiki installation over the next few hours. I'll make a database backup first and then begin to rename the wiki and to add new namespaces. I'm hoping this will go off fairly smoothly, but hope is the first step on the road to disappointment as they say. If you see a pile of massive "Localsettings.php" errors or the like, that's probably me.

Edit:
OK. I'm ready to create the new namespaces, but before I do, I need to know that their names are OK.

I'm not sure if created namespaces can renamed easily. Because of this, we should get their name right now. In any case, the names will probably be abbreviations for the section. I was thinking of the following.

--> Commentary : FGC(already in place)
--> "Encyclopedia" : (default namespace, already in place)
--> Theory & Analysis : "Theory & Analysis" or maybe "T&A"(possible T+A or TNA if Mediawiki will not take the & character)
--> Geeky Guides : Guides
--> Random Resources: Resources
--> Total Chaos : Random

Ornette encountered problems with the ampersand character. Might have to be TNA, although that isn't anywhere near as funny.

Gut. :thumbsup:
