Manga done an okay job with EoE, I think. And if Manga Ent. do get it, at least it won't take forever to be released here in Europe and it'll be reasonably priced. Both of those things are garunteed with Manga Ent. I think!

Just a warning - virtually no one else here thinks that, me included.

I'll let you go this time, but I have my eye on you

Kaworu/Asuka - give it a chance!
(Clarification - I still like Asuka/Shinji)

Well, if you live in the US, you'll get it even sooner, if Manga Ent. get it ^_^

Well, they didn't do a bad job, did they? If you disliked the ADV dub, then obviously you're not going to like the Manga dub. The commentary was crap, but you hardly expected it to be good, did you?

I don't mean the dub - it was actually decent in a couple of places in the movie - i'm talking about the terrible quality and the unforgiveable canon-breaking translations.

Ah yes, that is a bit crap, now'd you mention it. In your opinion, did ADV do a better job of translating the original meaning?

With comparisons to Bochan_birds translations, they weren't too bad, although there was the occasional line that was hard to swallow - but not to shabby.

The dubs however, are a different story.

I hate english dubbing. The only example i've ever seen of truly good english dubbing is Ghost in the Shell. Kind of ironic that they're published by 'Mangle'

Ah, well, then I'll be sure to take any comments you make about the Eva dub with a (somewhat enormous) grain of salt.

Well, ADV and Manga have to make minor alterations sometimes, it's perfectly understandable. I mean, there hasn't been one anime series or movie that I've watched dubbed where there's been a complete lack of sentances that just don't make sense. Some thing just can't be translated into idiomatic English and so ADV, of course, make changes - they have to.

Can we ever have a thread that discusses licensing that DOESN'T in a Dub Vs. Sub debate?

wait, no, since the people who License are the ones dubbing it, and if people who do shitty dubs (black hyuga) and shitty translations (Adam comes from Lilith) get it blah blah blah.

I will say this now, If there is a cam available, even raw, I will watch it.
And I will also download the DVD rip when that comes out, and buy it when ADV inevitably gets the rights to it.

We sure were a lot more patient back then, I got my hands on an eoe fansub about a year or so after it came out. Man I think people would start going nuts if we had to wait that long for rebuild.

Wow...that really puts everything into perspective.

I've only been a diehard fan of Eva for about a year and a half now with myself first getting into it in Feb/March 2006. And I was only 10 when the series first came out. 12 when EOE was released.

Just wow.

I've been a fan since 2004. Saw it out of order and piece by piece, left wanting more each time.

*facepalm*

He said he will buy it when it comes out. We're just going to pirate the Japanese DVD rip and the english subtitles that will inevitably be released for it first, because GODDAMNIT I WANT TO SEE MY WEBUILD D:<
He was warrior and mystic, ogre and saint, the fox and the innocent, chivalrous, ruthless, less than a god, more than a man. There is no measuring Muad'Dib's motives by ordinary standards. In the moment of his triumph, he saw the death prepared for him, yet he accepted the treachery. Can you say he did this out of a sense of justice? Whose justice, then? Remember, we speak now of the Muad'Dib who ordered battle drums made from his enemies' skins, the Muad'Dib who denied the conventions of his ducal past with a wave of the hand, saying merely: "I am the Kwisatz Haderach. That is reason enough."

Pfft. I'm still 'waiting' for EoE. I'll take a copy that doesn't look like a VHS tape and actually plays all the way through on my dvd players.
