....with a video camera subtley hidden inside of a giant novelty hat.
Who is "Codename V"?....
I'm pleased to meet you and I hope you guessed my name, but what's puzzling you, is the nature of my game...so catch me if you can!! (0:50)
"Superior ability breeds superior ambition" -- Spock, Star Trek TOS episode 1.24 "Space Seed"
You say you say you want a REvolution?...
-->It was only after I lost everything, that I realized: I was free to do anything...

The actual movie begins with cutesy characters reminding the audience that bootlegging is evil, and beware the fines, etc, I heard.
Not exactly a confidence builder for anyone who walked in ready to do it.
PS how did the rough fan-thing of Yashima get made? I'm not too familiar with that video, but I'd imagine you need more than photographic memory from what you just saw in a theater for a fan to recreate that whole deal.

There wasn't anything like that when I saw it, it was mostly ads for buying Evangelion merchandise and popcorn (or maybe it was cleverly embedded in the ads and I just missed it)

It was done using old EoE/TV Series footage and drawings from memory. There were people in Tokyo who watched it multiple times on opening day, and there was tons of chatter on mixi about the movie. There were people who watched it multiple times for several days straight, so I wouldn't doubt it was just from memory.
